Senior Electrical Engineer – Product Development
Bloomington, MN | Direct-Hire | $90,000–$140,000

Konik is partnering with a family-owned engineering and manufacturing company seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design, development, and improvement of innovative HVAC and refrigeration tools, test equipment, and electronic products. This role will serve as a technical leader within the engineering organization, driving projects from early concept development through production release.

The ideal candidate will bring extensive experience with electrical design, PCB assemblies, circuit development, and new product introduction within a manufacturing environment. This is an opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on product development, solving complex technical challenges, mentoring other engineers, and seeing designs move from concept into production.

Senior Electrical Engineer Responsibilities

  • Lead electrical design and development activities for new products and improvements to existing HVAC/R tools and equipment.
  • Serve as a technical leader on engineering projects, guiding designs from initial concepts through production-ready solutions.
  • Design and develop low-voltage electronic systems, including printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs), circuits, and electrical components.
  • Create and review electrical designs, schematics, documentation, and engineering specifications.
  • Collaborate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and cross-functional teams to ensure successful product development.
  • Develop test plans, support product validation, and troubleshoot electrical design issues during development and production.
  • Provide advanced technical support to manufacturing teams and assist with resolving production challenges.
  • Work with vendors to ensure component specifications, requirements, and quality standards are met.
  • Develop bills of materials (BOMs), update engineering documentation, and support engineering change processes.
  • Mentor and provide technical guidance to other engineers and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in new product development reviews, project meetings, and engineering milestone discussions.

Senior Electrical Engineer Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related technical field.
  • 8+ years of progressive experience in new product design and development.
  • Experience designing electrical/electronic systems within a manufacturing or product development environment.
  • Experience with low-voltage printed circuit board assemblies (PCBAs).
  • Experience with circuit design and electronic design automation (EDA) tools.
  • Strong understanding of the product development lifecycle from concept through production.
  • Experience with 3D CAD systems and collaboration with mechanical design teams.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and create technical documentation and engineering specifications.
  • Knowledge of Lean principles and continuous improvement practices.

  • Experience with SolidWorks or similar 3D CAD software.
