  • Prepare man-hour estimates and determine layout staffing requirements for projects.
  • Contribute to project cost estimates and budgeting activities.
  • Ensure the technical accuracy, completeness, and overall quality of all layout deliverables.
  • Conduct layout technical quality audits across multiple projects.
  • Support construction, commissioning, and field activities as required.
  • Participate in field engineering activities and site assignments as required.
  • Maintain, update, and improve equipment libraries, departmental standards, and procedures.
  • Develop and recommend enhancements to design standards to reduce costs, improve quality, and support efficient plant maintenance.
About you

  • 12-15+ years of relevant experience in mechanical engineering design, with a strong emphasis on layout design for heavy industrial and/or mining projects.
  • Experience within a consulting engineering environment is required.

  • Leadership & Discipline Management:
  • Minimum of 2 years of proven experience as a discipline lead or technical lead on large or complex projects in a supervisory role.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide technical leadership and manage discipline teams across multiple projects.

  • Capable of assessing professional effort and providing clear visibility on progress, performance indicators (CPI, SPI), and Estimate to Complete (ETC).
  • Proficiency in relevant engineering and 3D design tools, including Plant3D, Revit, MicroStation, SmartPlant, and Inventor.
  • Strong analytical, critical-thinking, and problem-solving skills applied to practical engineering challenges.
  • Collaboration & Communication:
  • Fluency in English (spoken and written).
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, contractors, and multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
