What is a senior LAMP Stack developer?

Senior LAMP Stack Developers are experienced software engineers who specialize in building and maintaining web applications using the LAMP stack, which consists of Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP. They are responsible for designing system architecture, writing efficient code, optimizing databases, and ensuring application security and scalability. With their advanced skills and experience, senior developers often mentor junior team members, lead technical projects, and make high-level decisions about technology solutions.

What are the key skills and qualifications needed to thrive as a senior LAMP Stack developer, and why are they important?

To thrive as a Senior LAMP Stack Developer, you need deep expertise in Linux, Apache, MySQL, and PHP, along with a strong background in web application architecture and computer science fundamentals. Familiarity with version control systems (like Git), frameworks (such as Laravel or Symfony), and experience in cloud platforms or CI/CD pipelines are typically required. Strong problem-solving, effective communication, and leadership abilities make someone stand out by fostering collaboration and mentoring junior developers. These skills ensure robust, scalable web solutions and help drive project success in dynamic development environments.

How does a senior LAMP Stack developer typically collaborate with other teams in a tech organization?

As a Senior LAMP Stack Developer, you will regularly collaborate with front-end developers, UX/UI designers, QA testers, and product managers to deliver robust web applications. Your role often involves participating in sprint planning, code reviews, and architectural discussions to ensure seamless integration between system components. Effective communication and the ability to translate technical concepts for non-technical stakeholders are crucial, as you may also provide guidance to junior developers and contribute to cross-functional problem-solving sessions.

What is the difference between Senior Lamp Stack Developer vs Full Stack Developer?

AspectSenior Lamp Stack DeveloperFull Stack Developer
CredentialsProven experience with LAMP stack, often with certifications in PHP, Linux, or MySQLBroader skill set across multiple technologies, often with certifications in JavaScript, React, or backend languages
Work EnvironmentPrimarily focused on server-side development within web hosting or enterprise environmentsEnd-to-end development, including frontend and backend, in diverse industries
Industry UsageCommon in web development companies, agencies, and startups focusing on LAMP-based solutionsWidely used across tech companies, startups, and enterprises requiring full project development

While a Senior Lamp Stack Developer specializes in server-side development using LAMP technologies, a Full Stack Developer has a broader skill set covering both frontend and backend development across various technologies. The choice depends on whether the focus is on deep expertise in LAMP or versatile full project development.

Comp AI

Job description

About Comp AI
Comp AI is reimagining compliance. We're rebuilding a stack that has been manual for far too long, with AI agents designed to handle the busywork. We're one of the fastest growing companies in the world, with more than 1,000 customers in less than 18 months and accelerating.
Our AI agents:
  • Draft and maintain policies based on our customers' tech stack
  • Collect ongoing evidence across code and browser use
  • Assess risks and monitor mission critical vendors
  • Review code and changes to a company's stack
  • Continuously monitor posture against common cyber security frameworks like SOC 2, ISO 27001, HIPAA and GDPR

Compliance is the wedge. What we're building is the whole trust layer with continuous, AI-driven code security, cloud security, device security - owned end to end instead of stitched together between vendors. Always on, and better the longer you use it. We move fast and hold a high bar. The team is small enough that each person's work shows up directly in our product.
About the Role
We're hiring a Senior Fullstack Engineer to build and own major parts of the platform, from the database to the API to the UI the customer touches.
You'll ship features end to end: design the data model, build the API, wire up the frontend, and get it in front of customers in days rather than quarters. You'll make architectural calls, work directly with founders and product, and stay close enough to customers to know whether what you shipped worked.
Compliance is where we started because the pain is most acute today. The role is bigger than that.
You'll help build what continuous AI-driven cybersecurity looks like.
This is an AI-native engineering role in a real sense. We build with AI tooling every day.
You'll use Claude Code and similar tools as a core part of how you work: generating, refactoring, and reviewing code with AI in the loop. The point is leverage.
You move faster because the AI handles the mechanical work, and you stay in control because you have the experience to catch when it is wrong.
A lot of what you build will also be the agentic systems inside the product itself: evidence collection, policy drafting, control mapping, and continuous monitoring. You'll be building agents and using agents to build.
How We Use AI (Central to the Role)
We expect you to be fluent with modern AI development. Day to day that means:
  • Using AI coding tools like Claude Code as a primary part of your workflow, not an occasional assist.
  • Knowing how to prompt, scope, and steer these tools toward production-quality output, and how to break work down so they are effective.
  • Reading every line the AI produces and catching the mistakes. AI is fast and confident, and it is regularly wrong about edge cases, security, data modeling, and intent. Your job is to know the difference.
  • Holding the quality bar. The AI accelerates you. It does not replace your judgment, your architecture sense, or your responsibility for what ships.

We want strong engineers who use AI to go faster, not people who lean on it to do the thinking. The combination of deep engineering judgment and AI fluency is the profile we are hiring for.
The Stack
TypeScript end to end. Next.js (App Router) and React on the frontend, NestJS on the backend, Postgres with Prisma, a Turborepo monorepo on Bun, and Trigger.dev for background and agent workloads.
We use AI tooling, including Claude Code, throughout the development workflow.
What You'll Do
Build and own
  • Own major features and surfaces end to end: data model, API, frontend, and the infrastructure they run on.
  • Make architectural calls and explain them clearly. Design systems that hold up as we scale.
  • Set the engineering patterns the rest of the team builds on.

Build with AI, and keep it honest
  • Use Claude Code and similar tools as a core part of how you ship.
  • Review AI-generated code carefully and catch the errors before they reach production.
  • Improve how the whole team works with AI: prompts, patterns, guardrails, and what to automate.

Ship fast
  • Ship to customers in days and weeks, then iterate on what they actually do.
  • Build the AI agents inside the product: evidence collection, policy drafting, control mapping, continuous monitoring.
  • Hold a high bar on quality: strong types, tests, and performance.

Stay close and partner
  • Talk to customers. You'll see the pain firsthand and ship against it.
  • Partner with product, design, and founders from shaping through launch.
  • Review PRs, mentor, and raise the bar around you.

You May Be a Good Fit If You Have
  • 5+ years building production software, with full-stack shipping experience at an AI-native, infrastructure, devtools, security, or B2B SaaS company.
  • Fluency with AI development tools (Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot, or similar) as part of your daily workflow, and a clear point of view on where they help and where they don't.
  • The engineering depth to review AI-generated code and catch what is wrong: bugs, security issues, weak data models, subtle logic errors. You trust your own judgment over the model's.
  • Deep TypeScript expertise across the stack: React/Next.js on the frontend, Node (NestJS or similar) on the backend.
  • Strong data-modeling instincts. You design schemas that scale and reason carefully about Postgres, queries, and migrations.
  • Shipped product customers paid for and relied on. You can talk specifically about what you built, the tradeoffs you made, and the things that didn't work.

Strong Candidates May Also Have
  • Experience building with LLMs and AI agents in production: tool use, orchestration, evals, retrieval.
  • Background in compliance, security, audit tooling, or other regulated domains (fintech, healthcare, public sector).
  • Time at an early-stage startup or as a founder, where scope was wide and you owned things end to end.
  • Experience building for technical buyers (security teams, engineering leaders, CTOs).
  • Comfort with infrastructure: CI/CD, observability, background job systems, and cloud (AWS/GCP).

How We Work
  • You think like an owner. The code is yours and the outcomes are yours.
  • You use AI to move faster and you stay responsible for what ships.
  • You'd rather ship something imperfect this week and iterate than polish for a quarter.
  • You hold strong opinions and update them when the evidence changes.

What This Role Is Not
  • Not narrowly scoped. You'll own whole surfaces, frontend to backend to infra, not a backlog of tickets for one corner of the app.
  • Not frontend-only or backend-only. This is genuinely full-stack.
  • Not a research role. We ship to customers in weeks.
  • Not hands-off. You'll design the system, write the code, and review the PR in the same week.
  • Not a place to vibe-code. AI does a lot of the typing, but you own the result and you are expected to catch its mistakes.

Why Comp AI
  • Real ownership. What you ship affects the company's numbers, not a sub-team's OKRs.
  • Direct access to founders. Decisions happen in conversation.
  • AI-native from day zero, in the product and in how we build it.
  • A modern stack kept clean, with no legacy debt to fight.
  • A category in motion. Compliance is becoming continuous cybersecurity, and you'll help build it.

Compensation and Logistics
  • Base + equity: $170K - $230K base, plus meaningful equity.
  • Location: This is an on-site role at our Miami HQ, five days a week. We help with relocation if you want to move.
  • Visa sponsorship: We don't sponsor visas at this time.

Perks
  • Competitive base and meaningful equity.
  • Unlimited PTO on top of US federal holidays. Give ample notice and take what you need.
  • Quarterly team offsites.
  • A strong team to learn from.

The pay range for this role is:
170,000 - 230,000 USD per year (Miami HQ)
