Job Purpose and Impact

The senior laboratory technician position will lead the completion of routine analytical and laboratory testing of customer samples. In this role, you will receive, prepare, test samples, document results of tests and communicate those results (LIMS). You will also check and monitor the instruments and equipment that is used during the testing process.

Key Accountabilities
  • Receive, prepare, and process sample for laboratory testing. Including but not limited to database entry upon sample receipt, sample grinding and sample scanning 
  • Perform routine instrument diagnostics and preventative maintenance activities. Assist with equipment troubleshooting and repair as required. 
  • Perform a variety of laboratory analyzes including physical, chemical, physical-chemical tests (NIR, XRF, ICP, Spectrophotometer, titrations, Gravimetry, ELISA, enzymatic assays and others)
  • Assist in onboarding of new analytical assays and assist in method development.
  • Conduct complex inspections for sample properties utilizing laboratory equipment and various analytical methods.
  • Understand and comply with safety regulations and other procedural compliance regulations.  Champion campus safety program.  Consistently provide a safe work environment for self and others.
  • Maintain inventory management for laboratory chemicals, consumables, and samples.
  • Interpret and document results of all tests and internally communicates results as required (LIMS).
  • Provide leadership, coaching, training, and mentoring to team members.
  • Work in accordance with good laboratory practices.
  • Handle complex clerical, administrative, technical or customer support issues under minimal supervision, while escalating only the most complex issues to appropriate staff. Provide support for data quality and database reporting.  Utilize tools such as SharePoint to track and follow up on customer issues.

Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma, secondary education level or equivalent
  • Minimum of four years of related work experience
  • PC and MS Office competence
  Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent experience
  • Experience with email, spreadsheet, presentation, and word processing applications
  • Experience working in a laboratory
  • Experience working with data and/or database software (Ex: Microsoft Access)

The expected salary for this position is $24 - $29. Compensation varies depending on a wide array of factors including but not limited to the specific location, certifications, education, and level of experience. The disclosed range estimate may be adjusted for any applicable geographic differential associated with the location at which the position may be filled.
