Job Summary:
IT KeySource is a company seeking a Senior Data Engineer to improve existing data design and develop new databases and data models. The role involves managing major projects, supporting data analysis initiatives, and ensuring compliance with ETL best practices.
Responsibilities:
• Improve existing data design and design new databases and data models, including relational table structures, using Unix Shell Scripting, Oracle and SQL Server Stored Procedures.
• Manage the requirements gathering, development and rollout of major projects on the solution platform
• Drive and develop new data import/export or other transformation exercises
• Work directly with reporting team to ensure ongoing operational and new work complies with requirements and ETL best practice and audit standards
• Provide ad-hoc support for advanced strategic data analysis initiatives
• Act as the go-to expert on all underlying transformation logic against data in the data warehouse
• Support business user questions about the data and provide documentation and training when and where necessary
• Support campaign and report developers with data inquiries or new data requests
• Drive and participate in all new data aggregation / snapshot processes
• Identify process simplification opportunities for overall Data Warehouse environment
• Ability to quickly become intimately familiar with all data within the environment and develop an in-depth understanding of key business processes and needs.
• Prepare design documents; evaluate and recommend solutions to meet user requirements; define and implement solutions.
• Write code in compliance with programming standards.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Assist developers and provide data access guidance, as needed.
• Produce and maintain SQL programming objects, such as stored procedures, user-defined functions, common table expressions, scheduled SQL Agent jobs, and clustered/non-clustered/covering indexes.
• Provide data back to the requesting business unit(s) and effectively communicate the results.
• Help determine level of effort and time required for solution delivery.
• Identify, design, and implement internal process improvements related to the automation of manual processes, optimization of data delivery, and re-design infrastructure for greater scalability.
• Create ETL/SSIS packages for data warehousing.
• Experience in Python and common python libraries.
• Participate in on-call rotation and assist with after-hours issues, as required.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Bachelor degree in computer science or information systems science, or equivalent experience.
• Must have a minimum of two (2) Years experience designing SSIS ETL packages to move data from various sources preferably from Oracle and Flat files.
• Must have a minimum of two (2) years of experience extracting and transforming data within Business Intelligence environment.
• Four (4) + years of experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including SQL Agent jobs, SSIS packages.
• Four (4) + years of experience with SQL programming objects, including stored procedures, user-defined functions, and common table expressions.
• Four (4) + years of experience with ETL Development, and/or Python.
• Must demonstrate proficiency with technical, conceptual, interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Must demonstrate ability to adapt to changing priorities and respond to problems creatively.
Preferred:
• Working knowledge of general business, quality/regulatory requirements, and /or manufacturing systems
• Exposure and general working knowledge of Azure Data Factory
