Position Summary

This senior technical role designs, develops, modernizes, and scales enterprise software platforms. The Senior Software Engineer leads full-stack development, application modernization, CI/CD and enterprise integrations, and responsible AI-assisted engineering. Working with business stakeholders and IT leadership, the role delivers secure, high-performing, maintainable solutions and provides technical leadership across architecture, modern .NET development, APIs, cloud integration, database optimization, DevOps, security, and software delivery.

Business Hours: In-Person, Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM

Key Responsibilities

Technical Leadership, Architecture & Modernization

  • Lead the transformation, modernization, and ongoing support of business-critical applications using C#, .NET/ASP.NET Core, SQL Server, and related technologies, designing secure, scalable, resilient architectures that align with business objectives.
  • Assess legacy applications and develop pragmatic modernization roadmaps, balancing business value, technical debt, security, maintainability, cost, and risk through targeted refactoring, modularization, framework upgrades, and phased modernization strategies.
  • Provide technical leadership through architecture reviews, code reviews, documentation, mentorship, and the adoption of clean architecture, domain-driven design (DDD), service-oriented, and microservices patterns where appropriate.
  • Lead application and data migration initiatives with a focus on data integrity and minimal downtime, while evaluating and recommending technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, cloud-native services, caching, messaging, virtualization, and distributed architectures based on business and operational requirements.

Full-Stack & Data Development

  • Design and maintain enterprise backend solutions and RESTful APIs using C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core; support gRPC, event-driven architectures, queues, background jobs, and messaging where appropriate.
  • Support and troubleshoot applications hosted on Microsoft IIS, including application pools, sites, bindings, authentication, configuration, deployment, logging, and common hosting/performance issues.
  • Optimize SQL Server schema, indexing, queries, and performance; evaluate PostgreSQL when justified and use caching/session/job-processing technologies such as Redis where appropriate.
  • Support and enhance Angular/TypeScript frontends and responsive, accessible UX; evaluate future modernization with React, Node.js, or other modern web technologies.
  • Ensure application reliability, performance, maintainability, and seamless integration among user interfaces, APIs, backend services, databases, and enterprise systems.

AI-Assisted Software Engineering

  • Incorporate AI-assisted development into the SDLC to improve code generation/refactoring, debugging, testing, documentation, troubleshooting, modernization, analysis, and developer productivity while maintaining human accountability.
  • Use tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, OpenAI Codex, or comparable assistants; translate business/technical requirements into clear contextual instructions and prompts.
  • Critically review, validate, test, and modify AI-generated code; mitigate risks including insecure code, hallucinated APIs, incorrect assumptions, vulnerable dependencies, incomplete error handling, and architectural inconsistency.
  • Ensure AI-assisted code follows coding standards, architecture, security, design patterns, testing, and source-control practices; evaluate new AI capabilities for responsible engineering use.

Cloud Engineering, DevOps & Software Quality

  • Design, implement, and support Azure DevOps CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native solutions in Azure, with AWS integrations as needed, leveraging automation, containerization (Docker), Kubernetes, and observability practices to deliver scalable, reliable, and efficient application deployments.
  • Drive application quality, security, and lifecycle management through peer reviews, automated testing, static code analysis, dependency management, secure coding practices, vulnerability remediation, application hardening, and proactive management of framework, runtime, and third-party component upgrades, deprecations, and end-of-life remediation.

Secure Application Development & Agile Delivery

  • Partner with stakeholders to translate business requirements into secure, scalable technical solutions, provide implementation recommendations, communicate project status to leadership, and support Agile/Scrum delivery activities.
  • Apply OWASP secure development practices and CodeQL or similar tools to identify and remediate application vulnerabilities, conduct security reviews, and integrate automated security validation into CI/CD pipelines and development workflows.

Qualifications & Skills

Required Qualifications

  • 7+ years of full-stack software engineering experience in enterprise environments; 5+ years with C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core, including current/recent supported .NET versions.
  • Strong SQL Server development, optimization, and performance-tuning expertise; experience designing RESTful APIs and modern backend/service architectures.
  • Hands-on Angular, TypeScript, and modern frontend development; Git-based source control and collaborative workflows.
  • Strong Microsoft Azure, Azure DevOps, and CI/CD automation experience; Agile/Scrum experience.
  • Demonstrated AI-assisted software development experience with responsible validation of AI-generated production code; strong understanding of secure software development and common application vulnerabilities.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Legacy/aging .NET modernization and migration to supported frameworks and modern architectures; React, Node.js, or other modern web technologies.
  • PostgreSQL/Amazon Aurora; Redis or comparable caching/session/queue/background processing; gRPC, messaging, queues, and event-driven architectures.
  • Azure/AWS integration; infrastructure automation/DevOps; Docker, Kubernetes, and reliable cloud architectures; CodeQL or similar static security analysis; Python for analytics, reporting, automation, or supporting workloads.
