Senior Java Developer
Location: Charlotte, North Carolina (Hybrid)
Employment Type: Contract
Contract Duration: 12 Months
Role Overview
This role is responsible for providing senior-level Java development, technical direction, and oversight to a team delivering technology solutions. Key responsibilities include overseeing the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex computer programs, aligning technical solutions with business objectives, and ensuring coding practices comply with software development standards. Qualified candidates will have experience through multiple software implementations and have developed depth and breadth in several technical competencies.
Key Responsibilities
  • Provide technical direction and oversight for the design, implementation, and maintenance of complex computer programs.
  • Align technical solutions to business objectives.
  • Ensure coding practices and quality comply with software development standards.
  • Develop solutions for high-volume applications using server-side frameworks.
  • Build and maintain RESTful web services.
  • Participate in code reviews and provide constructive feedback for improvements.
  • Contribute improvement ideas to the team and assist in driving their implementation.
Required Qualifications
  • 5+ years of hands-on software development experience.
  • Experience with the Spring Framework, including Spring Boot, Spring Security, Spring Integration, Spring MVC, and Spring Data JPA.
  • A good understanding of SOAP web services and related standards like REST/JSON.
  • Experience building RESTful web services.
  • Working knowledge of front-end technologies such as handlebars, foundation, and reactJS.
  • Proficiency with XML and JSON binding libraries (e.g., JAXB, Jackson, Gson).
  • Experience with unit testing using JUnit.
  • Familiarity with GIT, Maven, Nexus, and an IDE such as Eclipse.
  • Experience with GIT distributed version control, including branching/merge strategies and Bitbucket.
  • Knowledge of monitoring tools like Splunk and Dynatrace.
  • Familiarity with MQ systems such as WebSphere MQ or ActiveMQ.
  • Experience in performance tuning with a good understanding of JVM internals.
  • Experience with Groovy.
  • Proficiency in Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) concepts and Java design patterns.
  • Experience in distributed system development using Java/J2EE/Web Technologies.
  • Basic knowledge of AI agents and using AI for code reviews and writing.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor or Master's Degree in Computer Science or a related field.
  • Exposure to Agile methodologies.
  • Ability to communicate complex technology solutions to diverse technical, business, and management teams.
