Job description

Back End Java Software Engineer

The client is looking for a back end Java software engineer to work on their appeasement engine project.

Location

The client prefers candidates who can work in their Sunnyvale office at least two times a week and is open to the possibility of converting these contract positions into full-time roles in the future. Tuesday & Wednesday in person.

Team Makeup

The full team currently consists of 10 team members working with multiple applications. The project team: 2 FTE creating an application.

Day to Day

Design, develop, and implement scalable software solutions for eCommerce platforms. Create architecture diagrams, service specifications, sequence diagrams, and technical design documents for application development. Optimize software systems and designs to improve performance and scalability. Set up CD/CI pipelines for the applications and ensure smooth delivery of the products. Build logging, alerting, and monitoring solutions to detect and identify application-level problems proactively. Perform code reviews using review tools to ensure software code quality. Provide on call support and periodically participate in after-hours release testing. Develop implement scalable software solutions for e-commerce, creating architecture diagrams.

Project

Appeasement engine project. It is new within the Promotions OL team. They currently have 2 FTE they are creating a service to Customer Care, working on design and code and support end to end and deploy.

Challenges

The client has previously hired software engineers and has noticed that some candidates fall short in their coding abilities. They will be testing the candidates' coding skills through HackerRank or similar coding questions to ensure they are a good fit for the role.

Backend Java

Top skills: Java, REST APIs, and database knowledge. NoSQL, Cassandra. Day to day API design and 100% working as a developer. Supporting end to end test support and deploy codes and writing use cases. Don’t need JSP.

Required skills: Java. Additional skills: Software Developer. This is a high priority requisition.
