Job Title
Senior Backend Software Engineer (Java, AWS & Kubernetes)
Overview
We are seeking an experienced Backend Software Engineer to design, develop, and support cloud-based platform services and APIs for a large-scale connected technology platform. The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in Java, cloud-native development, microservices architecture, and AWS technologies while contributing throughout the full software development lifecycle.
This is a hybrid position requiring four days per week in the office. Candidates may work from either the Dearborn, MI or Palo Alto, CA office.
Key Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, maintain, and support mission-critical cloud platform components.
  • Build and enhance secure, reliable, and scalable platform services and APIs.
  • Develop RESTful and gRPC-based microservices using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Deploy containerized applications using Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).
  • Develop Kafka producers and consumers for real-time event processing.
  • Implement OAuth2/JWT authentication and authorization.
  • Follow Test-Driven Development (TDD) practices and create integration tests.
  • Instrument applications with logging, metrics, and monitoring to support observability and performance.
  • Design, implement, deploy, monitor, and support software throughout the full development lifecycle.
  • Collaborate with software engineers, architects, product teams, and other stakeholders to deliver production-ready solutions.
  • Participate in technical design discussions and promote engineering best practices.
  • Support high-availability, scalable cloud applications in an always-on production environment.

Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in a relevant field.
  • Master's degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of progressive experience in cloud-based software development.
  • Strong Java development experience.
  • Experience building RESTful APIs and gRPC services.
  • Experience with Spring Boot.
  • Experience with Docker and Kubernetes (EKS).

  • Experience with PostgreSQL.
  • Experience implementing OAuth2/JWT security.
