Job description

Position Title: Software Engineer SME Location: Raven Rock Mountain Complex – Fairfield, PA Clearance: ***Active TS/SCI clearance required*** Salary: $178,000.00 + Position Summary: The Software Engineering Subject Matter Expert (SME) serves as a senior technical leader responsible for the design, development, integration, and sustainment of secure, scalable software solutions supporting government systems. This role provides expert guidance across the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), ensuring compliance with DoD standards and cybersecurity requirements. The SME collaborates with government stakeholders, program management, and cross-functional teams to translate mission needs into high-quality technical solutions while driving innovation and best practices in software engineering. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: Develop, maintain, and enhance applications using the .NET framework.
Work within an MVC architecture and support front end and back-end components.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to deliver secure, high quality software solutions
Troubleshoot, debug, and optimize application performance.
Follow established DoD development, security, and documentation standards.
Provide subject matter expertise in designing, developing, and implementing complex software solutions to meet government requirements.
Lead the full software development lifecycle (SDLC), from requirements analysis and architecture design to coding, testing, and deployment.
Engineer and sustain robust software solutions, ensuring they are scalable, secure, and maintainable.
Serve as the technical lead for the development team, providing mentorship, code reviews, and guidance on best practices in software engineering.
Analyze and troubleshoot complex software defects and performance issues, providing timely and effective resolutions.
Evaluate and integrate new technologies, frameworks, and tools to enhance software development capabilities and system performance.
Collaborate with government stakeholders and program management to define technical requirements and translate them into functional software.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including design specifications, API guides, and deployment procedures.
This position requires travel up to 15% to support system integration and deployment efforts. Education, Certification & Experience: Education: This position does not require a formal degree; however, candidates must possess the required years of directly related experience to qualify. Certifications: Active TS/SCI Clearance (required)
.NET Developer (preferred)
CompTIA Security+ (must meet the IT-II Limited Privileged requirement within 6 months of hire date) Experience: Minimum 10 years of experience in full-stack software engineering and development.
Minimum 7 years of expertise in modern programming languages such as Java, Python, or C++.
Minimum 5 years of experience developing and deploying applications in a DevSecOps environment, including extensive use of CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
Minimum 5 years’ experience in designing and implementing software solutions on both classified and unclassified networks. (preferred) Knowledge: SQL Server, including T-SQL, database design and modeling, normalization/denormalization, indexing, and constraints.
Understanding of MVC architecture, Entity Framework, JSON, and front-end technologies such as jQuery.
Comprehensive knowledge of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies and best practices.
Understanding of DoD development processes, cybersecurity requirements, and secure coding standards. Skills: Advanced proficiency in .NET development using Visual Studio 2022.
Experience with logging frameworks such as log4net (Version 6.5.1).
Familiarity with tools and frameworks such as ANTLR and WebGrease.
Preparing and presenting cybersecurity documentation, reports, and accreditation packets. Abilities: Ability to analyze complex technical problems and deliver effective, timely solutions.
Strong leadership, communication, and collaboration skills to work effectively with technical teams and government stakeholders.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver high-quality results in a mission-driven environment.
