SUMMARY

To deliver desired, sustainable business outcomes and assure the integrity and continuity of our systems. This position is responsible for the development, maintenance, and support of AutoZone's hardware, software and/or network systems. This includes teaching domain expertise, providing technical guidance and mentoring, supporting the customers, resolving problems, and training as required.

RESPONSIBILITIES

• Participate in any and potentially all roles of the systems development life cycle. Roles may vary by project and assignment.
• This may include, but not limited to:
• Develop, plan and/or maintain software applications and/or systems; debug, design, code, test, write specifications, roll-out software, and production support.
• Technical services; software, hardware and network architecture design and maintenance; security operations.
• Store engineering, coding based on design provided and roll-out implementation.
• Accurate work planning and execution; accurate project and time tracking.
• Responsible for the development of less experienced AutoZoners; mentor and teach.
• Responsible for defining code specifications and how systems will be constructed.
• Conduct code reviews.

REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field preferred
• Typically requires eight to fifteen years experience based on consistently demonstrated capabilities.
• Knowledge of MS Office.
• Expert proficiency with the AutoZone software, architecture and methodology.
• Technical skills may include experience with one or more of: UNIX, Linux, Windows, Cobol, Java, MS SQL, C, C++, Informix, Greenplum, Hadoop, ATG, QT4, Oracle, PostgreSQL, DB2/SQL, JCL, CSP, CICS, TCP/IP, Networking and LAN administration.
• Advanced problem solving, domain technical and analytical skills.
•  Advanced expertise in at least one technical area. Subject matter expertise in more than one functional area.
• Teaching, coaching and mentoring.
• Advanced system estimation, planning and execution skills.
• Often provides technical supervision to others.

Skills and Requirements: 
    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, MIS, Information Technology or related field required, or equivalent practical experience
    5+ years of professional experience building production web applications using React and TypeScript
    Deep expertise with modern React Native patterns, including hooks, context, and advanced state management
    Strong experience designing component architectures and reusable frontend platforms
    Typically requires 4 to 8 years of experience as a full-time developer
    Familiarity developing software using Agile processes and the Scrum framework
    Experience optimizing frontend performance for high-traffic eCommerce applications
    Ability to perform tasks without technical supervision
    Excellent communication skills with both technical and non-technical partners
    Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to a strong engineering culture
 

Job Responsibilities- Other duties may be assigned:
    Own the technical design and implementation of complex React-based features and systems
o    Produce clean, readable, maintainable code in TypeScript & JavaScript
o    Understand deep integration with native code via Kotlin and Swift
o    Understand business requirements, knowing how architecture influences product, and visa-versa
o    Translate ambiguous business goals into well-architected, scalable frontend solutions
    Drive mobile architecture decisions, including component design, state management, and performance optimization
o    Work with other developers to develop robust solutions
o    Mentor and guide associate and mid-level engineers through pairing, reviews, and technical feedback
o    Good communication skills
    Contribute to overall group objectives like finding opportunities for cross-product code reuse, improving developer experience using automation, and improving operational stability
o    Identify and drive opportunities for cross-product reuse, platform improvements, and developer experience enhancements
o    Develop modular code
o    Write unit tests and integration tests to ensure code quality
    Ensure frontend systems meet eCommerce performance, reliability, and scalability requirements
o    Analyze analytics data to help business partners optimize flows and increase conversion rates
o    Contribute code using Git
o    Use tools like CodePush to reliably deliver value between app store releases
    Contribute to operational excellence, including monitoring, incident response, and post-incident improvements
o    Find novel ways to monitor application performance, and turn monitoring into actionable tickets
