Job description

Senior Software Engineer - AI and Automation

POSITION SUMMARY

The Senior Software Engineer – AI & Automation is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining enterprise

applications, automations, and system integrations that improve business operations. This role combines strong

software engineering fundamentals with modern AI development tools to rapidly deliver secure, scalable, and

production-ready solutions. The incumbent is an experienced developer who can architect solutions, write and review

high-quality code, integrate with APIs and cloud platforms, and leverage AI to accelerate development, not replace

engineering expertise.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• Design, build, and maintain internal applications and automations.

• Develop APIs and integrations across enterprise systems.

• Review, test, and optimize AI-generated code for quality, security, and performance.

• Collaborate with business stakeholders to turn operational needs into technical solutions.

• Own technical architecture, documentation, and deployment of software solutions.

• Continuously evaluate emerging AI technologies to improve developer productivity and business outcomes.

SUCCESS METRICS (PRIMARY KPIS)

• 90%+ of assigned projects delivered on schedule.

• Less than 2% critical production defect rate after deployment.

• 99.9% availability for owned applications and services.

• 100% of production systems documented before project completion.

• Demonstrated measurable business value (e.g., hours saved, processes automated, costs reduced) for major

initiatives.

CAREER PROGRESSION

This is an early-stage, greenfield position. The incumbent will help define the operating model, engineering standards,

and architecture patterns for AI-accelerated development at scale, with direct visibility to business stakeholders and

priority projects. As the function matures, the role may expand in scope to include ownership of a technical domain,

platform initiative, or engineering team.

QUALIFICATIONS (NON-NEGOTIABLE EXPERTISE)

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience developing production applications.

• Expert proficiency in C#/.NET or Java, with the ability to quickly learn adjacent technologies.

• Strong experience designing and consuming RESTful APIs and integrating enterprise platforms.

• Experience with AWS (Lambda, API Gateway, S3, RDS, IAM, etc.) or equivalent cloud platforms.

• Proficiency with SQL and relational database design.

• Experience using AI coding tools (GitHub Copilot, Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, Windsurf, etc.) while maintaining

responsibility for code quality, security, and architecture.

• Strong understanding of software architecture, security, testing, version control (Git), and CI/CD pipelines.

• Demonstrated ability to independently design, build, deploy, and support production software.

CANDIDATE ATTRIBUTES

This is not a prompt engineering or “vibe coding” position. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to design, write,

debug, and maintain production-quality software independently, using AI as an accelerator rather than a substitute for

engineering expertise.
