Job Title: Application Developer III
Job Location: 600 E Lafayette Blvd, Detroit, MI 48226
Job Type: Full-time, 40 hours a week, Monday - Friday
Duties: Code applications or enterprise wide software systems using a disciplined development process. Integrate solutions with other applications and platforms outside the framework. Create data extracts and reports from system based on requirements. Support and/or execute all testing efforts across the life cycle. Create technical design specifications and assist in sizing technical requirements, as needed. Lead the deployment of new modules upgrades and fixes to the production environment, as needed. Make modules production-ready by moving them to libraries, completing forms and version control documents, following procedures, etc. Evaluate new application packages and tools and performs research on best practices. Provide recommendations for solutions. Troubleshoot existing information systems to identify errors or deficiencies and develops solutions. Evaluate existing applications and platforms and provides recommendations for improving application performance by conducting gap analysis, identifying feasible alternative solutions, and assisting in the scope of modifications. Participate on teams that outline the process and scope out the improvements that can realized through the application solutions. Document functions and changes to new or modified modules and test activities/results and other areas such as error handling and backup/recovery procedures. Assist in the development of user guides and training documentation for systems. Develop work plan timelines and manages workflows to meet project timeframes, as needed. Identify best sources of data feeds and interfaces with architects to ensure their feasibility with corporate data warehouse, when needed. Review modules for quality assurance. Prepare and present formal training to IT staff, as needed. Hybrid remote within a reasonable commuting distance of the Detroit, Michigan office.
Requirements: Bachelor in Management of Information Systems, Computer Science, Computer Information Systems and Information Technology, Engineering, or related field and five (5) years of experience as a Sr. Java Developer, Software Engineer/Production Support Executive or related role where experience in application programming and analysis was gained. Also requires experience in the following:
  • 5 years of experience in Application programming and analysis;
  • 3 years of experience in Struts & Hibernate framework, JSP, XML, XSLT, Java, J2EE, CSS, HTML, DHTML, JavaScript, and Oracle;
  • 2 years of experience in WebSphere application server
  • 3 years of experience using application code version control/change management systems such as GITHub; and
  • 2 years of experience in developing code using Angular Framework.
