About the Role

We are looking for a highly skilled Senior Front-End/React Developer with hands‑on UI development experience. Depending on the engagement, this role may serve as the technical lead for the front end of one of our government client engagements, taking ownership of front‑end architecture and implementation decisions while working closely with end users and other project team members to deliver reliable, maintainable enterprise applications.

Depending on the engagement, job duties may include:

  • Serve as the technical lead for front‑end architecture, design patterns, and implementation decisions.
  • Develop highly interactive applications, including complex forms, dashboards, charts, and diagrams.
  • Work with end users to identify current workflows and clarify project objectives.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior analysts/programmers.
  • Ensure front‑end interfaces meet applicable accessibility standards (WCAG 2.1 AA / Section 508) for government systems.
  • Write program documentation and operations guidelines.
  • Requires comprehensive knowledge and the ability to learn programming techniques, frameworks, enterprise database products, and development suites.

Required Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related technical field, or 8+ years of directly related professional experience.
  • 7+ years of front‑end development experience on enterprise business applications, including experience leading technical initiatives or mentoring other developers.
  • Experience working with asynchronous backend APIs (REST and GraphQL), with a strong preference for GraphQL experience.
  • Strong attention to detail and the capacity to design user interfaces that are intuitive.
  • Demonstrated ability to quickly learn new technology stacks, languages, and frameworks, along with the underlying business processes they support.
  • Ability to work core Alaska business hours (8:00 AM – 5:00 PM Alaska Time).
Soft Skills
  • Strong problem‑solving and critical‑thinking skills, with the initiative and creativity to identify pragmatic, results‑oriented solutions.
  • Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills, with the ability to coordinate effectively across technical and non‑technical audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Back‑end development experience in Java/Spring Boot.
  • Experience with automated testing and unit test design and development using tools such as Jest.
  • Familiarity with the Node.js environment and package managers, including front‑end build tools such as Vite.
  • Experience with GraphQL client and form‑building libraries, such as Apollo and Formik. Experience building interfaces that meet accessibility standards (WCAG / Section 508).
  • Ability to create and use visualization/prototyping tools such as wireframes and mockups.
  • Prior experience as a consultant.
  • Experience working with State and Federal agencies operating in Alaska.
