Join Our Team as an Inventory Controller
Are you detail-oriented, efficient, and have SAP experience? We are currently seeking a dedicated and organized Inventory Controller to join our team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in enhancing efficiency and safety in the workplace. If you have experience with quality control and inventory optimization, we would like to hear from you!
Summary: Responsible for the overall inventory accuracy within the facility. Industry standard material control techniques including cycle counting, yearly physical inventory and parts audit prior to production deployment will be used to ensure acceptable levels of inventory accuracy are always met. Reporting to Finance, but with a close tie-in to operations, this position will develop and maintain local processes and procedures that ensure ongoing integrity of the inventory control systems.
Essential Duties:
  • Ensure complete inventory accuracy through the Implementation and maintenance of inventory control procedures across the facility, including cycle counting, stock reconciliation, and record keeping, to ensure accuracy and reliability.
  • Coordinate & perform scheduled monthly on-site Inventory counts.
  • Coordinate & perform scheduled bi-annual off-site Inventory counts.
  • Complete all SAP transactions related to receipts of bare & painted coil and all coil movement transactions.
  • Complete off-site coil reconciliation files each month including all SAP transactions.
  • Complete SAP COGI transactions related to inventory on site.
  • Perform root cause analysis related to cycle count inaccuracies and to drive process improvements.
  • Perform Vendor steel scrap analysis monthly.
  • Perform scheduled and unscheduled audits of inventory to ensure count integrity.
  • Continuously review and improve inventory management processes to enhance efficiency, reduce waste, and minimize holding costs.
  • Generate regular inventory reports and analyze data to provide insights into inventory trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Prepare and present reports to senior management, offering recommendations for inventory optimization and cost reduction.
  • Work with Operations personnel to ensure a clear shared understanding of the importance of inventory accuracy.
  • Work with the Quality Department to ensure damaged products are accurately captured and removed from inventory, and that quality records are maintained.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant regulations, industry standards, and company policies related to inventory control and management.
  • Maintain a safe and secure inventory storage environment, adhering to safety protocols and overseeing security measures to prevent theft or damage to inventory.
  • Establish an ongoing culture of cleanliness and order within inventory/storage area.
  • All other duties assigned as required.

Education/Experience:
  • College degree or five years' experience in insulated panel or related construction/metal building project
  • Minimum of 3 years' experience in inventory management
  • Thorough knowledge of ERP systems (SAP strongly preferred)
  • Detail-oriented, with a commitment to accuracy and precision in inventory control.
  • Continuous Improvement experience and Lean Manufacturing Focused
  • Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to multi-task and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to communicate to all levels of management.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Computer Skills:
  • Must be an expert user in Microsoft Excel with excellent knowledge of tasks such as VLOOKUP, SUMIF, and PIVOT TABLES.
  • Must be proficient in all Microsoft Office applications (Word, and Power Point) and Outlook.

Other Skills and Requirements:
  • High level of interpersonal skills
  • Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
  • Good telephone and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
