SMS Equipment is seeking a highly analytical and collaborative Senior Financial Analyst – Mining Sales to support our Mining Equipment Sales team. In this role, you will play a critical part in financial reporting, forecasting, and equipment financing solutions that enable revenue growth and support strategic decision-making. You will work closely with Sales, Finance, and external partners to deliver actionable insights and financing strategies that help drive successful outcomes for both customers and the business. Work Location: Acheson, AB 
Salary: $100,000 - $115,000, per annum, commensurate with experience 
Work Arrangement: Hybrid – opportunity to work remotely up to 2 days per week 
Schedule: Monday – Friday, 8:00 AM – 4:30 PM 

What You’ll Do 

Financial Analysis & Reporting 

  • Prepare and analyze monthly mining equipment inventory projections and budget vs. forecast reports. 
  • Provide real-time sales forecast updates for executive reporting. 
  • Support the annual budget process in Vena and develop PowerPoint presentations. 
  • Review cost worksheets to analyze variances between sales quotes and final equipment costs. 
  • Prepare and maintain Mining Accounts Receivable sales reports, ensuring timely follow-up on collections. 
  • Coordinate foreign exchange and forward contract bookings related to mining equipment sales. 
  • Assist in revenue recognition for mining sales, aligning financial reporting with actual sales performance. 
  • Develop financial dashboards and key performance indicator (KPI) tracking for quarterly sales meetings. 

Equipment Financing & Lease Structuring 

  • Identify and evaluate financing programs to support mining equipment sales. 
  • Develop financing solutions by liaising with lenders, including Komatsu Financial and external financial institutions. 
  • Manage financing applications, coordinate contracts, and oversee the completion of financing transactions. 
  • Ensure Sales Representatives are aware of all current finance programs and how each program may be applied 
  • Prepare detailed amortization schedules, lease structures, and buyout calculations. 
  • Draft and manage rental and rent-to-sell agreements. 

CRM & Sales Data Management 

  • Serve as the CRM system administrator, ensuring data accuracy and functionality. 
  • Develop training materials and provide ongoing support for sales teams on CRM tools. 
  • Collaborate with digital transformation teams to enhance CRM capabilities and reporting automation. 
  • Generate reports and presentations for management, providing insights into sales activity and financial performance. 

What You Bring 

You have a university degree finance, accounting, or related field along with experience supporting sales operations, financial reporting, and equipment financing. You are highly analytical, detail-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, multi-project environment while collaborating across teams to influence business outcomes. 

In addition, you have: 

  • CPA or equivalent professional designation (e.g., CFA, CMA) with 5+ years of experience 
  • Experience with financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting 
  • Understanding of equipment financing, leasing, and credit structures 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and financial systems (e.g., CRM tools, Vena) 
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills 
  • Ability to travel throughout Canada and United States (Alaska). 

Assets: 

  • Experience working in heavy equipment, mining, or industrial sectors 
  • Bilingual (English/French)
