Senior Interior Designer

San Francisco, CA

$115,000 - $145,000 + benefits

A Senior Interior Designer is required to lead workplace, commercial interiors and tenant improvement projects for a San Francisco design practice, taking ownership of design ideas, client presentations, project delivery and junior team mentorship.

This Senior Interior Designer role is suited to a creative, technically strong designer with extensive experience across workplace strategy, FF&E, space planning, documentation and construction administration. You will act as lead designer across complex projects while working closely with principals, architects, project managers, consultants, contractors and client teams.

Role:

  • Lead design across a variety of complex project types simultaneously
  • Manage small to mid-size project teams and mentor junior designers
  • Lead client meetings, interviews, pitches, real estate tours, visioning sessions, programming, workplace strategy and design presentations
  • Deliver projects from fit planning and conceptual design through design development, documentation, construction administration and post-occupancy studies
  • Collaborate with project managers on mid- to large-scale projects
  • Coordinate directly with clients, product representatives, furniture dealers, fabricators, consultants, contractors and planning agencies
  • Review design and technical drawings prepared by junior designers
  • Support cost estimate reviews, design budget analysis and overall project delivery
  • Participate in marketing and business development activity, including proposals and interviews

Requirements:

  • Minimum 12 years of experience working on interior design and/or architectural projects
  • Primary project experience across workplaces, commercial interiors and tenant improvement projects
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in Interior Design, Architecture or a related field
  • Extensive knowledge of design research, workplace strategy and FF&E
  • Strong experience across all phases of interior design or architectural project delivery
  • Working knowledge of building codes, fire codes and accessibility requirements for interior environments
  • Extensive knowledge of construction documents and procedures
  • Autodesk Revit skills
  • Experience using Mural collaboration platform
  • Office 365, Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills
  • Currently authorized to work in the United States without visa sponsorship

Desirable Experience:

  • Interior Design Certification
  • LEED and/or WELL Accreditation, or hands-on sustainable design project experience
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite skills, including Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign
  • Enscape modeling skills
  • Experience working in a Citrix environment
  • Hand sketching and conceptual drawing skills
