Job description

Senior Construction Inspector

This well-established consulting engineering firm located in Burlington, ON provides  civil engineering, construction inspection, and project management services across Southern Ontario.

Reporting to the Director of Construction, the Senior Construction Inspector will oversee inspection activities on civil infrastructure, sub division and land development projects to ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, municipal requirements, and industry standards.

This role includes field and resident inspection services for projects involving earthworks, grading, underground servicing, roadworks, while coordinating closely with contractors, municipalities, utility companies, and clients throughout the construction phase.

Responsibilities
  • Monitor construction activities and perform quality assurance inspections
  • Maintain inspection records, deficiency lists, and as-constructed information
  • Prepare inspection reports, quantity summaries, and project documentation
  • Coordinate field testing, including compaction, concrete, asphalt, CCTV, and air testing
  • Complete grading checks and record as-built infrastructure information
  • Communicate deficiencies, safety concerns, and project risks to the Project Manager and contractors
  • Attend construction meetings and support contract administration activities
  • Build strong working relationships with municipalities, contractors, utility companies, and clients
  • Mentor and support Junior Inspectors
Qualifications
  • Civil Engineering Degree or Civil Engineering Technology Diploma
  • 6+ years of construction inspection experience within land development, municipal infrastructure, or road construction
  • Strong knowledge of OPSS/OPSD, municipal standards, grading, sewer, water main, and roadworks
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, grading plans, and contract documents
  • Experience with construction documentation and quality assurance inspections
  • Working knowledge of AutoCAD, Civil 3D, GPS survey equipment, and Microsoft Office
  • Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Valid Ontario Class G Driver's License with access to a reliable vehicle
