Position Overview:

  • The Sr. Infrastructure Engineer will be responsible for assisting in the design, development, and implementation of virtualization, storage and cloud solutions which support the current and future needs of the business.
  • Day-to-day, the optimizations and performance of these solutions allow to achieve its rapid growth.
  • This is a critical IT Infrastructure component, so the candidate must have extensive experience in virtual, cloud and storage technologies.
  • This role requires deep expertise in Microsoft Active Directory services and Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud environments.
  • The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in Windows-based enterprise systems, identity and access management (IAM), and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) principles.
  • The focus of the Sr. Infrastructure Engineer will entail the engineering and support of all the virtualized systems across multiple data centers and cloud while ensuring the environment is managed to meet best practice standards and agreed service availability (SLA's).
  • The successful candidate will also have experience in cloud platforms and will drive strategies for implementing cloud platforms.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and manage scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud infrastructure on AWS.
  • Implement AWS IAM policies, roles, and federated identity integrations with AD.
  • Build and maintain cloud automation and provisioning using CloudFormation, Terraform, or similar IaC tools.
  • Manage AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, VPC, CloudWatch, Lambda, and Systems Manager.
  • Support hybrid-cloud architecture, including AD domain controllers and workloads in AWS.
  • Optimize costs and resource utilization through monitoring, automation, and lifecycle management.
  • Design, implement, and manage Active Directory Domain Services (AD DS), DNS, DHCP, and Group Policy Objects (GPOs).
  • Maintain the existing enterprise virtualization environment (VMware), including troubleshooting, performance monitoring and optimization, capacity, and continuity planning.
  • Assist in the planning, design, and implementation of new virtualization technology solutions.
  • Ensure security, compliance, and operational standards are met across both on-prem and cloud environments.
  • Automate administrative tasks using PowerShell, AWS CLI, and Python.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams on cloud migration, DR planning, and infrastructure modernization initiatives.
  • Maintain and manage Citrix environments (Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, Citrix Cloud).
  • Using observability tools, ensure high availability, and quickly respond to incidents and outages.
  • Document system configurations, procedures, and best practices.
  • Maintain an expert level of knowledge by maintaining current certifications, attending seminars or other related activities.
  • Interact with hardware and software vendors to ensure timely resolution to any issues or outages.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to production issues and take responsibility for seeing those issues through resolution.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation for support of systems outside of normal business hours.
  • Assist with the planning and deployment of infrastructure security measures.
  • Analyze existing operations and make recommendations for the improvement and development of the relevant IT systems.
  • Participate in Post-Mortem meetings to discuss any outage occurrences, develop safeguards and, where appropriate, implement any recommended changes to avoid reoccurrence.

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in the field of computer science, engineering, or information systems.
  • A minimum of 10 years of strong technical IT infrastructure/systems experience with a strong emphasis towards virtualization technologies, with proven analytical, evaluative, and problem-solving abilities.
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience working with Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud Platform or Microsoft Azure.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in virtualization technologies, including expert knowledge of optimization and industry best practices.
  • A minimum of 5 years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Active Directory in a large enterprise.
  • 3+ years of experience supporting and administering Citrix environments (Citrix XenApp/XenDesktop or Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops).
  • Deep understanding of Windows Server OS (2016/2019/2022).
  • Proficient in administering Microsoft 365 Admin Center, Azure AD, Exchange Online, SharePoint, and Teams.
  • Experience managing a PKI infrastructure including both internal and external CAs.
  • Advanced experience in systems and network observability tools such as DataDog.
  • Subject Matter Expert knowledge of VMware ESX(i) Server 7.0 and above, and VMware vCenter.
  • Advanced experience in SAN storage technologies and integration with VMware, specifically with Pure Storage.
  • Advanced experience in the use of SAN replication and SRM.
  • Advanced experience and knowledge in scripting languages such as PowerShell, Perl, or Python.
  • Excellent knowledge of DNS, DHCP, SMTP, SNMP and other TCP/IP protocols and services in support of the virtualization and storage technologies.
  • Exceptional customer service skills, in addition to extensive experience working in a team-oriented, collaborative environment.
  • Capable of accomplishing tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to effectively interact with all IT Infrastructure groups.
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment and make sound decisions in emergency situations.
  • Understanding and application of ITIL principles and practices, and how they relate to the goals and objectives of the organization.
  • Continually update and maintain, where necessary, all related documentation, technical or otherwise, for new and existing systems. This is to include inventory, change control, or process functionality documentation.
