Location: Charlotte, NC, Jacksonville, FL, or Richmond, VA - Hybrid (3 days onsite, 2 remote)
About the Role
Join a dynamic technology team at Bank of America as a Senior Java Developer, driving the design and development of innovative Collaboration and Productivity applications within the financial sector. Lead the migration of .NET applications to Java, working on critical, enterprise-level solutions that shape the future of banking technology. This onsite/hybrid contract role offers the chance to collaborate with cutting-edge teams and make a meaningful impact in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement enterprise-grade Java applications for Real Time Communication and productivity tools.
- Lead the migration of .NET-based systems to Java, ensuring seamless integration and performance.
- Craft detailed technical designs and ensure alignment with existing infrastructure and security standards.
- Build and maintain microservices using Spring Boot with native load balancing.
- Develop and optimize SQL Server database solutions for high availability and scalability.
- Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to define requirements, set priorities, and drive projects through the full development lifecycle.
- Troubleshoot, resolve, and document development and production issues across distributed environments.
- Champion automation by leveraging Copilot for accelerated, high-quality software delivery.
- Produce user documentation and support tools to enhance productivity and user experience.
- Embrace ownership by proactively identifying new opportunities for technical innovation and organizational value.
Required Skills and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or information systems.
- 12+ years of software development experience within the financial or technology sector.
- Expertise in Java 11+ (Java 17+ preferred), J2EE, Spring Boot, microservices, and RESTful web services.
- Proven track record with heavy SQL Server development and optimization.
- Experience with distributed systems, multi-threaded programming, high availability, and application security.
- Familiarity with .NET/C# (especially valuable for migration projects).
- Comfortable working in Linux environments.
- Hands-on experience using Copilot for development.
- Strong communication skills; enthusiastic, innovative, and proactive ("Type A" personality).
- Experience connecting vendor APIs using Oath authentication.
Preferred Skills
- Exposure to Copilot agents or Studio.
- Experience with Power Platform.
- Familiarity with CTI APIs (TSAPI, JTAPI), Lync UCWA, HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap, JQuery, AngularJS.
- Experience with JUnit and Jenkins automation frameworks.
