Senior HR Generalist

Location: Gillette, Wyoming
Salary: $75,000–$80,000 annually
Employment Type: Full-Time

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior HR Generalist to lead the day-to-day human resources function for a growing organization in Gillette, Wyoming.

This is an excellent opportunity for an HR professional who enjoys taking ownership, working independently, and serving as a trusted resource to both employees and leadership. As the primary on-site HR leader supporting approximately 30 employees, you will oversee the full employee lifecycle while collaborating closely with the HR leadership of the parent company.

The ideal candidate brings broad HR experience, strong judgment, and the ability to balance hands-on HR responsibilities with strategic workforce initiatives.

Key ResponsibilitiesHR Leadership & Operations
  • Serve as the primary on-site HR resource and trusted advisor to employees and leadership.
  • Manage daily HR operations while evaluating and improving policies, procedures, workflows, and the employee handbook.
  • Maintain confidential personnel files, HR records, and accurate HRIS data.
  • Support compliance with applicable federal, state, and local employment laws and regulatory requirements.
Talent Acquisition & Onboarding
  • Manage full-cycle recruitment, including job description development, candidate sourcing, interviewing, offer negotiations, and candidate selection.
  • Coordinate pre-employment processes, including background checks, reference verification, and offer packages.
  • Develop and execute effective onboarding and orientation programs that help new employees become productive quickly.
  • Manage structured offboarding processes, conduct exit interviews, and evaluate employee feedback to identify retention opportunities.
Benefits & Compensation Administration
  • Oversee employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, retirement, and supplemental benefits.
  • Serve as the primary resource for complex benefit questions, claims escalations, and qualifying life events.
  • Lead annual open enrollment activities, employee education, and vendor coordination in partnership with benefit brokers.
  • Partner with payroll to support accurate employee data, stipend tracking, and compensation compliance.
Employee Relations & Performance Management
  • Support employee engagement and retention initiatives that contribute to a high-performing workplace.
  • Coach and advise managers on employee relations matters, conflict resolution, and performance management.
  • Guide leaders through performance reviews, progressive discipline, and corrective action documentation.
  • Partner with leadership to identify skill gaps and support employee learning and development.
Compliance & Continuous Improvement
  • Maintain HR compliance programs, required workplace postings, and mandatory reporting.
  • Review HR systems and workflows to identify opportunities for greater efficiency and continuous improvement.
  • Support audit readiness and HR data reporting for business leadership.
Strategic HR Partnership
  • Operate with a high degree of independence while maintaining alignment with the parent company’s HR leadership.
  • Partner with executive leadership on workforce planning, succession strategy, and organizational change initiatives.
  • Lead special HR projects and cross-functional initiatives as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4–6 years of progressive Human Resources experience, including demonstrated experience working independently or in a sole-contributor HR role.
  • Broad knowledge of key HR disciplines, including employee relations, talent acquisition, benefits and compensation, employment law, and performance management.
  • Strong knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, and EEO requirements.
  • Strong interpersonal, conflict-resolution, and consultative skills with the ability to effectively work with employees and leadership at all levels.
  • Excellent organizational skills, discretion, and professional judgment.
  • Proficiency with HRIS systems, applicant tracking systems, and Microsoft Office or Google Workspace.
Preferred Qualifications
  • SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR certification is strongly preferred.
