Troon's Corporate office, located in Scottsdale, AZ, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Senior Data Platform Architect! We are seeking a highly motivated individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and advance their career within a rapidly growing organization. The Senior Data Platform Architect defines and governs the architecture of the enterprise analytics platform across Azure and Microsoft Fabric, ensuring scalable, secure, and integrated data solutions. Establishes standards for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption across medallion architecture layers, enabling consistent and high-quality data delivery. Acts as the technical authority aligning data engineering, analytics, and application development with platform strategy and best practices.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Define and maintain the end-to-end architecture for the analytics platform across Azure and Microsoft Fabric
  • Establish architectural standards for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and consumption across bronze, silver, and gold layers
  • Design integration patterns between source systems, data platform, analytics tools, and downstream applications
  • Lead architecture decisions for Azure services (e.g., Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, Databricks) and Fabric components
  • Ensure interoperability and alignment between Azure-native services and Microsoft Fabric capabilities (e.g., OneLake, Direct Lake, semantic models)
  • Define and enforce data modeling standards, including dimensional modeling and lakehouse design principles
  • Establish best practices for performance optimization, scalability, cost management, and reliability
  • Design and oversee implementation of data governance frameworks, including data quality, lineage, cataloging, and security
  • Collaborate with data engineers, analysts, and application developers to ensure architectural alignment and solution consistency
  • Evaluate and recommend new technologies, tools, and patterns to evolve the data platform
  • Provide technical leadership and mentorship to engineering teams
  • Participate in design reviews and ensure adherence to architectural standards
    Support strategic initiatives by translating business requirements into scalable technical architectures

Required Qualifications:
  • 8+ years of experience in data engineering, data architecture, or platform engineering
  • 3+ years designing and implementing cloud-based data platforms (Azure preferred)
  • Proven experience defining and governing enterprise data architecture

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric and lakehouse architectures
  • Experience implementing medallion architecture (bronze/silver/gold) at scale
  • Experience integrating multiple enterprise systems (CRM, ERP, SaaS platforms)
  • Experience supporting analytics, BI, and data-driven applications

Required Knowledge and Skills:
  • Deep expertise in Azure data services (Data Factory, Synapse, Data Lake, etc.)
  • Strong understanding of Microsoft Fabric architecture and components
  • Expertise in data architecture patterns (lakehouse, medallion, dimensional modeling)
  • Strong knowledge of data integration, ETL/ELT, and pipeline design
  • Understanding of distributed data processing (e.g., Spark, Databricks)
  • Experience designing secure, scalable, and high-performance data systems
  • Strong ability to translate business requirements into technical architecture
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder alignment skills

Preferred Knowledge and Skills:
  • Experience with Delta Lake and Direct Lake performance optimization
  • Knowledge of data governance tools and frameworks
  • Familiarity with DevOps and CI/CD practices for data platforms
  • Experience with API-based integrations and event-driven architectures
  • Understanding of AI/ML data pipelines and feature engineering workflows

Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field
  • Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
