Job description

Title:
Sr GCP Data Architect - Onsite role
Location : Onsite - Chicago, IL
Type: contract
Background of the engagement:
Customer initiated modernizing their current Data workloads into Azure couple of years ago and had to stop after realizing that there were performance issues. The customer has now finalized to move them into GCP stack/BigQuery. They are looking for a strong GCP Data Architect (10+ years of IT experience majorly in the Data Engineering background) who can help them build the way forward Solution Architecture through assessing the current state of data workloads sitting in Azure as well legacy systems. The outcome is a tailored GCP migration roadmap and implementation plan. This also includes securing network and access roles in GCP for data and apps, and redesigning data model and data-pipelines as per GCP offerings.
Expectations
1. Knowledge of data warehousing concepts, including data warehouse technical architectures, infrastructure components, ETL/ELT and reporting/analytic tools, and environments
2. Experience in Architecting and designing solutions leveraging services like Bigquery, Clod Data Flow, Cloud Pub Sub, Cloud Bigtable
3. Min one year Experience in Architecting applications for Google Cloud platform
4. Discover the key Data workloads and use cases. Identify key business requirements and define measurable migration goals for customer's data warehouse migration journey
5. Assess and provide a view of potential risks and opportunities before beginning data warehouse modernization. Analyse current systems to understand priorities and technical debt as well as system logic and complexity.
6. Added advantage if the candidate has done Cloud to Cloud Data warehouse migration (AWS to GCP, Azure to GCP etc.)
7. Google Cloud Certification or other cloud certification desired
