Job Summary:
Sandia National Laboratories is the nation’s premier science and engineering lab for national security and technology innovation. They are seeking an experienced full-stack developer to deliver IT, IIOT, and Cyber Assurance solutions for discrete manufacturing and lot-based production centers.
Responsibilities:
• Design, develop, deploy, and support full-stack applications using Java and/or .Net
• Partner with teams across the department and the CIO organization to deliver IIOT/OT and PLM software solutions
• Actively contribute to the implementation and sustainment of Solumina MES software, including development of interfaces, extensions, and customizations
• Develop and/or research methods to perform data/system integration and interfaces between the organization's Oracle ERP, MES, and Smart Manufacturing COTS and custom applications
• Participate in digital engineering/digital thread initiatives
• Perform operational support for computing and software needs across a variety of manufacturing equipment and environments.
• Explore and apply AI-enabled approaches to enhance both individual and department productivity and effectiveness.
• Install and maintain COTS software
• Support governance and stewardship of operational and machine data (including time-series sensor data, image, and video)
• Partner with cybersecurity professionals to deliver secure, compliant solutions using a graded, risk-based approach
• Build and maintain trusted relationships with manufacturing engineering customers and CIO partners, internal and external to Sandia
Qualifications:
Required:
• A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline and five (5) years of directly relevant experience, or an equivalent combination of directly relevant education and engineering or scientific experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and ability to perform independent research and development.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
Preferred:
• Graduate degree in Computer Science or a highly related field where an independent research project was a graduation requirement (e.g., independent project, thesis, or dissertation).
• Demonstrated software development skills and familiarity with modern software development practices and tools (e.g., Agile).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams, and a passion to improve and expand technical skills.
• Five (5) or more years of recent, hands-on full-stack software development experience (custom and/or COTS) in medium-to-large organizations, including sustainment and user support
• Proficiency in software development, with an emphasis on Java and .NET
• Experience developing front-end applications using modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., Angular, React, or Vue.js)
• Proficiency with one or more scripting language (e.g. Bash, JavaScript, PowerShell, or Python)
• Database design and development experience (e.g., Oracle, SQL Server, PostgreSQL).
• Familiarity with Agile software development practices.
• Working knowledge of DevOps practices and tooling (e.g., Git, CI/CD pipeline development and management).
• Interest in developing deep expertise in manufacturing software and processes (PLM/MES/ERP).
• Experience supporting discrete and/or process manufacturing operations.
• Networking fundamentals and troubleshooting experience
• Experience with cloud/hosted infrastructure and identity technologies (e.g., AWS or Azure authentication/authorization), and modern deployment platforms (Kubernetes, containers).
• Experience administering or developing on Windows and Linux/Unix systems.
• Experience with IIoT integration protocols/technologies (e.g., OPC UA, MQTT).
• Experience working in or supporting Operational Technology (OT) environments.
• Familiarity with Sandia corporate IT organizations and processes.
• Familiarity with Sandia cyber security policies and practices.
• Familiarity with (or certification in) IT or quality frameworks such as ITIL or Lean Six Sigma.
• Active DOE Q clearance
