Senior AI Full Stack Software Engineer – CMM

McKesson is an impact-driven, Fortune 10 company dedicated to improving the quality and accessibility of healthcare. As a Senior AI Full Stack Software Engineer, you will design, develop, and deploy end-to-end AI‑powered solutions that enhance our healthcare and decision‑making platforms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and deployment of AI applications that support decision‑making, patient engagement, and operational efficiency.
  • Integrate AI into electronic health records (EHRs) and clinical systems, building scalable solutions that incorporate large language models, voice and image recognition, and document parsing.
  • Develop and optimize secure, HIPAA‑compliant data pipelines for training and deploying AI models using structured and unstructured healthcare data.
  • Apply rigorous evaluation metrics (e.g., sensitivity, specificity, AUC‑ROC) to ensure models meet regulatory and ethical standards.
  • Mentor junior engineers and contribute to the strategic direction of AI initiatives within the organization.
  • Rapidly prototype and iterate AI concepts in collaboration with product representatives.
Minimum Qualifications
  • 10+ years of software engineering experience, with 4+ years in AI/ML development.
  • B.S. degree in Computer Science or related engineering discipline, or equivalent experience.
Critical Skills
  • 2+ years of experience building AI solutions in healthcare or life sciences.
  • Deep understanding of healthcare data standards (HL7, FHIR) and compliance frameworks (HIPAA, GDPR).
  • Proven ability to build AI models for clinical NLP, medical imaging, patient risk stratification, and care personalization.
  • Experience with retrieval‑augmented generation systems using tools such as Pydantic, Semantic Kernel, LangChain, LlamaIndex, and vector databases.
  • Skill in creating custom AI agents or specification‑driven tools and in writing for systems like Claude, Copilot, Codex, etc.
  • Advanced prompt engineering and optimization techniques (prompt tuning, caching, benchmarking).
  • Full‑stack development proficiency in Python, Node.js, and modern web frameworks.
Preferred Skills
  • Experience with secure cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), containerization (Docker, Kubernetes), and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with OpenAI, Hugging Face, PyDantic AI, TensorFlow, PyTorch, and healthcare‑specific AI libraries.

Compensation

Base Pay Range: $131,000 – $218,300.
