Job description

Primary location: HELSINKI. We are looking for a Software Engineer to join Loyalty’s S-ID squad. You will work as part of a modern software development team building digital services central to customer identity and access management for S Group Loyalty products and services. Your work will follow a hybrid model combining office and remote work depending on team practices and project needs.

About the job

Within the Loyalty domain, the S‑ID squad builds and operates customer identity and access management (CIAM) capabilities that enable secure, scalable and seamless authentication and authorization across user-facing services. As a Software Engineer in the S‑ID squad, you will work hands‑on in a product team developing and operating business‑critical systems at the core of the customer experience. Your work directly impacts how millions of customers identify themselves and access S Group’s digital services. In this role, you will design, build and maintain secure, high‑availability services, while actively participating in product discovery, planning and continuous improvement together with product owners, designers and other engineers. You will take ownership of solutions end‑to‑end: from understanding the underlying business problem to delivering reliable production implementations and ensuring their long‑term maintainability and performance. You will solve challenges related to identity management, security, scalability, integrations and system reliability. The work combines applying established engineering practices with designing new solutions tailored to evolving business and customer needs. You will collaborate closely with Product Owners, designers, engineers across SOK, and external technology platforms (e.g. cloud providers). The team operates with a strong product mindset and shared ownership culture, emphasizing collaboration, openness, and continuous learning. We work in a hybrid model, combining remote work with regular on‑site collaboration (typically 2–3 days per week).

What we’re looking for?

We are looking for a Software Engineer with solid experience in building and operating modern, cloud‑based digital services, and a strong interest in developing secure and scalable customer‑facing systems. You work well both independently and as part of a cross‑functional team, across the full software development lifecycle, from discovery and design to implementation, deployment and continuous improvement. You have a strong product engineering mindset: you aim to understand the “why” behind requirements and make technical decisions that maximize customer and business value.

Core qualifications
  • Several years of experience in software development, working with production systems and cloud environments
  • Strong hands‑on experience with modern technologies such as React and TypeScript
  • Understanding of system design and architecture, with ability to contribute to technical decision‑making to ensure scalability, security and reliability of services
  • Experience working in product teams and across the full development lifecycle (discovery to production)
  • Familiarity with modern development practices: testing (unit/integration/e2e), CI/CD, monitoring and observability
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, and ability to work with designers, product owners and other stakeholders
Additionally, we value
  • Experience with AWS or other cloud platforms
  • Experience or interest in identity and access management (CIAM) or security‑related systems
  • Interest in improving system reliability, performance and observability
  • Experience mentoring or supporting other engineers and contributing to team practices
  • Curiosity towards new technologies, including AI‑assisted development tools
