Job description

Senior PHP Developer/EngineerBuild well-tested, well-versioned and well-packaged PHP application modules. Build infrastructure like fixture libraries and general data model diagrams to help ease development throughout the team. Create well-structured, well-documented source code. Solve complex problems like single-signon, cross-device login, inter-user oauth, complex permissioning, and multi-domain data caching and synchronization. Contribute to ideation and implementation of devops strategies. Integrate open-source libraries when necessary, but be willing and able to modify them if needed, or create new ones when no existing ones rise to the occasion. Lead more junior team members in best practices in programming gitMust demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Must have extensive experience in application development (BEYOND website development). Must have extensive experience in SQL, and specifically MySQL. Should demonstrate interest in alternative data persistence mechanisms. Must have working knowledge of how the various components of the web application stack communicate and work together (browser, server host, web server, php-fpm, mysql). Should be interested in implementing socket communications and parallelism in PHP. MUST LOVE UNIT TESTS. Must have great appreciation for documentation. Must have at least some solid linux admin experience, and preferrably significant understanding of linux platforms (our flavor is Ubuntu). Chicago-based, looking or full-time, in-office commitment
