Senior Full Stack Java Engineer (Cloud & Microservices)

Location: Charlotte, NC (Hybrid)
Duration: 12+ Month Contract (Potential for Extension)

Overview

We are seeking a Senior Full Stack Java Engineer to join a fast-paced engineering team responsible for building scalable, cloud-native applications that support enterprise platforms. This role is ideal for an experienced software engineer who enjoys designing modern microservices, developing responsive user interfaces, and deploying applications in cloud environments.

The ideal candidate has strong backend expertise in Java and Spring Boot, front-end experience with React, and hands-on experience building cloud-native applications utilizing event-driven architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and deploy scalable enterprise applications using Java and Spring Boot.
  • Build and maintain modern RESTful APIs and microservices.
  • Develop responsive front-end applications using React.
  • Deploy and manage applications in cloud environments, including Cloud Foundry/OpenShift Container Platform (OCP) or similar cloud platforms.
  • Develop event-driven solutions using Kafka messaging.
  • Collaborate with product owners, architects, QA engineers, and DevOps teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
  • Participate in architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.
  • Write clean, maintainable, and well-tested code following engineering best practices.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and implement performance improvements.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, stand-ups, retrospectives, and code reviews.

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
  • 5 7 years of hands-on Java development experience.
  • Strong experience with:

    • Java
    • Spring Boot
    • REST APIs
    • Microservices architecture
    • React
    • Apache Kafka

  • Experience deploying applications within cloud environments such as Cloud Foundry, OpenShift Container Platform (OCP), Kubernetes, or similar platforms.
  • Understanding of CI/CD pipelines and modern DevOps practices.
  • Experience working in Agile/Scrum development environments.
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience developing or integrating Generative AI applications using Large Language Models (LLMs).
  • Experience creating AI agents or agentic workflows.
  • Experience with Contact Center technologies (IVR, routing, agent desktop, customer engagement platforms, or related systems).
  • Familiarity with cloud-native application design patterns and distributed systems.
  • Experience with containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes.
