About the role
As a Senior Java Developer, you will make an impact by designing, building, and supporting scalable enterprise applications using Java, Spring Boot, microservices, AWS, and modern DevOps practices. You will be a valued member of the technology delivery team supporting Capital One and will work collaboratively with client stakeholders, architects, engineering teams, and cross-functional partners to deliver secure, high-quality solutions.
In this role, you will:
• Design and develop enterprise-grade applications using Java, JEE, Spring Boot, and related Java technology stacks.
• Build highly scalable web applications, RESTful APIs, and microservices aligned to enterprise architecture standards.
• Apply design patterns and strong engineering practices to create maintainable, reusable, and reliable solutions.
• Implement and support cloud-based solutions and integrations on AWS.
• Contribute to DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, and source control using tools such as Jenkins, Git, and Maven.
• Develop secure API implementations using industry-standard protocols, including OAuth and related API security practices.
• Collaborate effectively with client and internal teams, communicating technical solutions clearly and professionally.

What you need to have to be considered:
• 6+ years of IT experience implementing Java 8, J2EE, and related Java technologies.
• Hands-on experience with Spring Boot, Spring Core, Spring JPA, and microservices-based application development.
• Strong experience with AWS cloud services, cloud integrations, and enterprise application deployment patterns.
• Experience with DevOps practices and CI/CD tools, including Jenkins, Git, and Maven.
• Strong programming and design skills, including experience with multithreading, design patterns, RESTful services, JSON, XML, web services, XSLT, PL/SQL, and advanced SQL.
• Experience implementing secure API solutions using industry-standard security protocols such as OAuth.
• Strong written, verbal, and documentation skills, with the ability to work effectively in a global team environment.

Salary and compensation:
The annual salary for this position will be between $60,000 to $114,000 per year depending on the experience and other qualifications of the successful candidate. This position is also eligible for Cognizant's discretionary annual incentive program and stock awards, based on performance and subject to the terms of Cognizant's applicable plans.
