Job description

HGA is seeking a Commissioning Manager to support operations on a mission critical data center project in Northeast Louisiana, near Monroe, LA. This Commissioning Manager is responsible for planning, coordinating, and leading all commissioning activities from construction readiness through startup, testing, documentation, and turnover, ensuring systems are delivered safely, on schedule, and in full compliance with contract documents, owner standards, and commissioning requirements.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and reinforce safety expectations across all commissioning activities, promoting an Incident Free Environment (IFE) and maintaining compliance with OSHA 30 and NFPA 70E requirements.
  • Serve as the primary on site commissioning lead and key liaison between the Owner, third party Commissioning Agent, trade partners, OFCI/MOFE vendors, QA/QC teams, and project leadership.
  • Plan, manage, and execute Level 3 through Level 5 commissioning activities, including startup, functional testing, issue resolution, and system turnover.
  • Lead daily commissioning coordination meetings and support alignment between commissioning, construction, QA/QC, and project scheduling teams.
  • Oversee resolution of Level 4 and Level 5 commissioning issues to support zero?defect turnover.
  • Support development, review, and execution of deferred commissioning and CMOP activities.
  • Ensure commissioning activities align with contractual milestones, owner requirements, and the overall project schedule.
  • Manage L3-L5 commissioning microschedules, including updates in Smartsheet and coordination with QA/QC and construction teams.
  • Coordinate commissioning script requirements with the third party Commissioning Agent and lead script page turn reviews using Bluebeam.
  • Ensure finalized commissioning scripts, test records, and documentation are uploaded to ACC Build / BIM 360.
  • Track commissioning readiness metrics, quality indicators, and overall commissioning health.
  • Coordinate OFCI and MOFE vendor participation for commissioning activities, ensuring equipment readiness, safe startup execution, and minimal disruption to construction.
  • Confirm compliance of L1-L3 equipment prior to commissioning and startup activities.
  • Build strong working relationships with owner construction and facilities teams, third party commissioning agents, trade partners, and vendors.
  • Mentor, train, and support commissioning and project staff while promoting a collaborative, One Team project culture.
  • Understand and enforce Division 01 commissioning requirements and support change management, documentation control, and knowledge transfer processes.
  • Represent commissioning in project coordination meetings, including QA/QC, scheduling, VDC, operations, and client meetings as required.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or equivalent mission critical commissioning experience
  • 10+ years of experience in data center or mission critical construction, commissioning, startup, or systems validation
  • 5+ years of experience in a commissioning leadership role (Manager, Lead, or Senior Commissioning Engineer)
  • Proven experience managing L3-L5 commissioning phases
  • Strong understanding of electrical and mechanical mission critical systems
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings, specifications, submittals, RFIs, commissioning plans, and test scripts
  • Experience working with third party commissioning agents and OFCI/MOFE equipment and vendors
  • Proficiency with ACC Build / BIM 360, Bluebeam, Smartsheet, and commissioning documentation platforms
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting hyperscale or colocation data center programs
  • Advanced commissioning or industry certifications
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross functional teams in fast paced, high reliability construction environments
  • Strong communication, organization, and issue resolution skills
  • Proven ability to support schedule alignment, documentation accuracy, and zero defect turnover goals
