Full Stack Software Engineer - Platform Software

Reframe Systems

Job description

ABOUT US
Reframe Systems is a Physical AI and robotics company on a mission to make high-performance housing attainable and abundant in the communities where people want to live. Through our vertically integrated delivery model and highly automated microfactories, we deliver climate resilient homes and buildings with greater speed and predictability than traditional construction.
Our volumetric modular buildings are produced in our Andover, MA microfactory, with a growing pipeline across North America and a new microfactory on the way. We are building a system that balances repeatability with site-responsive design, enabling homes that are adaptable to each site, community, and customer need. Our cross-disciplinary team brings together architecture, robotics, design engineering, software, factory operations, and field delivery to change how housing gets delivered.
We're reimagining the future of housing through a smarter and more sustainable system that empowers people to live better. Come build it with us.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to rethink how a construction project gets managed from inception to build.
Construction runs on handoffs: a project moves from a customer conversation to a scope, to an estimate, to a set of purchase orders, to a production schedule, with someone at every one of those boundaries re-entering what the last person already wrote down. The industry has long treated that as the cost of doing business, even though it is where schedules slip, where margin quietly disappears, and why almost nobody in this field can tell you what a building will cost until it is nearly built.
As a vertically integrated company, we are building the opposite of that, which means one authoritative representation of a project that everything downstream reads from, so that sales, estimating, procurement, and the factory all work off the same source of truth and a change in one place propagates. You will work closely with the design automation platform, which turns a building design into a manufacturable model and production plan, and the factory software team, to integrate real manufacturing data into our upstream models. This is part of the flywheel that will truly make construction faster and more predictable: real production data, cycle times, quantities, and labor we actually see on the floor, feeding back into how the next project is scoped, estimated, and bought, so that every building we deliver makes the next one more accurate to plan.
This is a hands-on role to deliver a software experience end-to-end, from understanding the problem statement to designing and deploying a solution. Your customers are the estimators, buyers, and project teams working alongside you, and you would spend real time with them, becoming an expert in their workflows. If you like taking an ambiguous, high-stakes part of a business and turning it into software that people run on, there is a lot of ground here.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Own how a project flows through our systems, from the first customer conversation through to what the factory builds, including every handoff in between.
  • Design the underlying data model and system of record, so that each function works from one authoritative representation of a project rather than maintaining its own copy.
  • Build full-stack applications that turn manual, document-driven processes into software that operations teams run their day on.
  • Define the data contracts and interfaces between business functions, and keep them clear enough that engineers and agents can both work against them.
  • Apply AI to the manual and unstructured parts of the process, and build it to drive value in production not just demo well.
  • Partner with other software teams to close the loop between what we plan and what we actually produce, so that real operating data improves the next project.
  • Set the technical direction for how these systems evolve, including where we build and where we buy.
  • Partner directly with the teams who will use what you build to find the highest-leverage problem to solve next, then cut scope until it ships.
  • Mentor and grow other team members; this is an opportunity to shape the software engineering culture in a small, agile team.
QUALIFICATIONS
Prior knowledge or experience in construction or manufacturing is not required. We'll get you up to speed.
Must Have
  • Bachelor's in computer science or a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years building production software.
  • Strong full-stack engineering, ideally in Python and Typescript, including automated testing, CI/CD, monitoring and alerting, and root cause analysis. You've owned systems end to end, from data model through interface.
  • A track record of gathering your own requirements and owning problems end to end, working directly with the people who will use what you build and turning vague operational complaints into scoped work that shipped.
  • Experience building internal tools for non-technical operators, with at least one you can point to that got adopted and stayed adopted.
  • Comfort with data modeling, pipelines, and warehouse work, without needing to be a pure data engineer.
  • Experience with cloud-native architecture and containerized deployments.
  • Experience using coding agents to prototype, reach a solution quickly, and augment day-to-day development.
  • Comfort shipping across organizational boundaries, into systems and teams you don't control.
Nice to Have
Any of these would be a bonus, but none are required to be a strong candidate:
  • Experience building software next to physical operations: manufacturing, construction, logistics, hardware, or field service.
  • Depth in one or more of estimating and CPQ, ERP or MRP systems, procurement and supply chain software, or PLM.
  • Experience integrating with, extending, or replacing an ERP.
  • Work on a digital thread or similar end-to-end traceability program.
  • Front-end depth, particularly data-dense interfaces for operational users.
  • Deep cross-functional collaboration skills.
EQUAL OPPORTUNITY EMPLOYER
Reframe Systems is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer. All qualified applicants will receive consideration for employment without regard to race, color, religion, sex, national origin, disability, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
If you believe you have the skills to thrive in this role, we encourage you to apply, even if you don't meet 100% of the listed requirements. At this time, we are only considering candidates who are authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for current or future visa sponsorship.
