Job description

About Boxbot
Boxbot revolutionizes logistics with adaptive automation, creating the facility of the future. As the industry grapples with labor shortages and rising costs, our advanced solutions effectively meet these challenges. We transform traditional conveyor systems into intelligent, three-dimensional package handling networks, dramatically improving dispatch efficiency and operational productivity. Our versatile platform seamlessly integrates cutting-edge software and hardware, offering a comprehensive solution that optimizes multiple facets of the supply chain.
We're a close-knit team that is well funded and are quickly expanding in order to bring our product to market. We are seeking teammates who take pride in their work and who get excited about building new systems with significant responsibility.
We're seeking a talented Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to help drive the next generation of Boxbot machinery. You'll help the design and select components for our automated material handling solutions. If you have experience shipping real world machinery, we want to talk to you!
Responsibilities
  • Help lead the design of complex mechanical systems for Boxbot's automated storage and retrieval products, from architecture through field deployment
  • Design robust structures, mechanisms and assemblies that perform reliably in real-world industrial environments
  • Spend lot's of time of the shop floor building and troubleshooting prototypes and test systems
  • Work directly with technicians, fabricators, machine shops, suppliers, and contract manufacturers
  • Produce clear CAD models, drawings, BOMs, and documentation for high-volume manufacturing
  • Partner with electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and systems teams to solve system-level engineering problems
  • Drive design improvements that reduce complexity, improve uptime, simplify assembly, and lower product cost
  • Lead root-cause investigations and resolve mechanical issues found during prototyping, production, deployment, and field operation

Requirements
  • 8+ years of hands-on mechanical design experience, preferably in industrial automation, robotics, or material handling systems
  • Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD tools; experience owning or scaling PDM/PLM systems is highly valued
  • Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals with deep experience designing mechanisms and structures
  • Demonstrated ability to architect robust, manufacturable systems rather than isolated components
  • Experience working in highly cross-functional environments alongside electrical, controls, software, manufacturing, and systems engineers
  • Experience designing for medium- to high-volume production, including sheet metal, machined, and injection-molded plastic components
  • Experience designing large welded assemblies, structural frames, and industrial equipment is a strong plus
  • Proven track record of taking products from blank-sheet concept through prototyping, validation, production release, and field deployment
  • Strong intuition for balancing performance, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and development speed
  • Comfortable operating with high ownership, ambiguity, and technical autonomy in fast-paced engineering environments
  • Excellent communication and technical decision-making skills, with the ability to influence across disciplines
  • Passion for building elegant, practical hardware systems that operate reliably in the real world

What We Offer
  • Opportunity to work on cutting-edge automation technology with real-world impact
  • Collaborative and innovative work environment
  • Competitive salary and benefits package
  • Career growth opportunities in a rapidly expanding company
  • Chance to play a key role in high-stakes projects

$140,000 - $190,000 a year
