Job Purpose
EnerSys is seeking a highly motivated and skilled SR Field Service Technician IV to join our growing Energy Systems team! In this role, you will be a technical expert and leader, providing advanced on-site support to our valued customers. You will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of complex equipment and systems, with a focus on quality control, ensuring optimal performance and minimizing downtime. You will also play a key role in mentoring and training junior technicians, ensuring the highest level of service delivery across the team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Advanced Field Service Expertise:
  • Provide expert-level technical support to customers, including installation, commissioning, maintenance, and repair of complex battery equipment and power systems.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot intricate technical issues, utilizing your in-depth knowledge and advanced diagnostic tools.
  • Perform preventative maintenance, system upgrades, and performance optimization to ensure maximum uptime and reliability.
  • Proactively identify potential issues and implement preventative measures to avoid costly downtime.
  • Serve as a technical escalation point for complex issues encountered by junior technicians.
  • Develop and implement advanced troubleshooting techniques and best practices for the team.

Customer Focus:
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with customers by providing timely, efficient, and professional service.
  • Effectively communicate technical information to customers in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Act as a trusted advisor to customers, providing guidance and recommendations on best practices for equipment operation, maintenance, and safety.
  • Conduct on-site customer training and knowledge transfer sessions.

Safety and Compliance:

Project Management:

  • Develop project plans, allocate resources, and monitor progress to ensure successful project outcomes.

Administration and Reporting:
  • Meticulously document all service activities, including maintenance records, repair logs, and customer interactions.
  • Prepare detailed technical reports and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Analyze performance data and identify trends to improve service delivery and efficiency.
  • Contribute to the development and improvement of field service processes and documentation.

Qualifications
Education and Experience:
  • Technical degree or equivalent certification in a relevant field (e.g., electrical engineering, electronics technology).
  • 5+ years of proven experience as a Field Service Technician, demonstrating progressive responsibility and technical expertise in the battery and power systems industry.
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and mentoring junior technicians.

Technical Skills:
  • In-depth knowledge of battery technologies (including Lithium-ion, VRLA, NiCd), UPS systems, power distribution equipment, and related systems.
  • Advanced troubleshooting and diagnostic skills, including the ability to interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical manuals.
  • Proficiency in using specialized tools and test equipment.
  • Strong understanding of power electronics, control systems, and industrial communication protocols.
