Job Title: Field Engineer – Industrial Group
Department: Project Management
Location: Rincon, GA; Catawba, SC; or Monroeville, AL
Status: Regular Full-Time – Exempt
Reports To: Project Manager or Site Manager

Summary and Purpose:

We are seeking a Project Engineer to join our Industrial Group based in southeast. This individual will serve as a key technical liaison between the office and field, working closely with owners, engineers, field supervisors, and vendors to support project execution. The Project Engineer will support construction planning, resolve technical field issues, track project progress, and ensure work is performed safely, on time, and to quality standards.

This is a full-time, direct hire position offering competitive pay, full benefits, and relocation assistance for qualified candidates.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Interface with clients, engineers, and estimators to support project scopes, estimates, and contract documentation.
  • Monitor and support field construction activities, ensuring compliance with project specifications, budget, and schedule.
  • Coordinate daily operations and field work with owners, engineers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Track project progress, analyze productivity, and assist with earned value assessments for progress payments.
  • Assist in identifying and managing changes in scope; support the change order process.
  • Provide real-time technical analysis and solutions to field supervision.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation including schedules, RFIs, status reports, and field logs.
  • Participate in job site meetings and safety briefings; ensure work aligns with all safety and environmental regulations.

Required Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or Construction Management required.
  • Minimum of 2+ years in multidisciplinary project engineering or construction support.
  • At least 2 years of industrial construction experience (Power, Pulp & Paper, Chemical preferred).
  • Experience with project controls, scheduling, and field reporting.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills based on logical field analysis.
  • Ability to effectively communicate across all project levels—from field craft to project executives.
  • Comfortable directing subcontractors and 3rd party vendors on-site.
  • Organized, adaptable, and able to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Skilled in interpreting technical drawings and translating complex information into actionable field direction.
  • Collaborative mindset with a team-oriented approach.

Preferred Skills:

  • OSHA 30 or similar safety training/certification
  • Hands-on project management or site supervision experience
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook), and Primavera P6

Physical Requirements & Work Environment:

  • Work is primarily conducted in active industrial construction environments, both indoors and outdoors.
  • Must be able to walk, climb stairs and ladders, bend, kneel, and carry materials weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires frequent use of personal protective equipment (PPE), including hard hats, safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
  • Exposure to high noise levels, hot and cold temperatures, mechanical equipment, chemicals, dust, and fumes is expected.
  • Occasional use of computer systems in office or trailer environments for project documentation and planning.
