Summary:

The Applications Engineer will design, select, and configure pumps and fluid systems, support applications engineering with equipment sizing, pricing, and quoting, provide technical support to sales, service, and customers, manage project bids, orders, and timelines, coordinate with the factory for documentation and equipment start-up, and maintain and update quotation logs.

Responsibilities of the Applications Engineer include, but are not limited to:

  • Provide customer service, sales, and technical support to the inside and outside sales teams and customers.
  • Promote and encourage profit management to ensure a profitable future for the company.
  • Understand and adhere to company policies to achieve both customer and company goals.
  • Work closely with sales, fabrication, and vendors to facilitate sales efforts and meet customer requirements.
  • Quote prices, fill orders to customer specifications, and process sales data via computer.
  • Process customer phone orders.
  • Check stock availability and shipping dates.
  • Assist the outside sales team by preparing price quotes and sourcing products.
  • Evaluate customer bid requirements, specifications, and other pertinent data.
  • Prepare proposals using vendor software, sales catalogs, and cost estimates according to technical and performance requirements.
  • Aid in the design and development of equipment and pump systems and redesign existing systems.
  • Notify inside and outside staff of new products and processes as needed.
  • Facilitate prompt resolution of customer technical problems, complaints, and failures.
  • Maintain organized order files, monitor in-house orders, and assist sales team and fabrication with project-related questions.

Qualifications include:

  • At least 5 years of applicable experience preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in an engineering-related field or equivalent related experience.
  • Knowledge of centrifugal pumps, fluid handling equipment, and fabricated pumping systems.
  • Ability to work independently and achieve targeted results.
  • Strong organizational and self-motivation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Effective negotiating skills.
  • Project management and teamwork experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office.

Additional Information:

  • Office located in Nashville, TN near airport.
  • No relocation assistance provided.
  • Office environment; no remote work.
  • Training or certifications related to pumps, motors, couplings, and mechanical seals are preferred.
  • Occasional, but not frequent, travel may be necessary for training and/or customer site visits.
