Senior Environmental Permitting Specialist / Environmental Planner

This is your opportunity to have autonomy, a voice at the table, variety in the types of projects you work on, and to be part of the entire project instead of just one piece of it.

You will work on a wide variety of waterfront projects from marina to yacht club to port projects. Instead of handing off your work and wondering what happened next, you will see projects move from initial planning to construction on the water.

Senior Environmental Permitting Specialist / Environmental Planner – Your Job Duties

You will lead environmental permitting efforts for marine infrastructure, marina development, waterfront construction, and dock projects from planning through approval.

You will:

  • Guide marine construction, marina, and residential docks through the environmental permitting process
  • Work directly with agencies, tribes, consultants, engineers, and clients to secure project approvals
  • Prepare permit applications, environmental documents, and agency submissions including SEPA, HPA, DNR leases, and USACE permits
  • Review plans, coordinate environmental studies, and identify potential permitting roadblocks before they become problems
  • Help clients navigate complex regulations and develop practical solutions when permitting challenges arise
  • Manage mitigation calculation and in lieu fee conservation credit and plan development for new mitigation sites
  • Build strong relationships with regulators and stakeholders to keep projects moving forward
  • Manage and mentor junior permit team members

Senior Environmental Permitting Specialist / Environmental Planner – You Have (Required Skills, Experience & Team Fit)

You have:

  • Prior experience with environmental permitting, environmental planning, marine permitting, shoreline permitting, or waterfront development projects throughout the Puget Sound
  • Prior experience working with city and county local shoreline agencies for SEPA determinations, HPA permitting with the WA Department of Fish and Wildlife and USACE Section 10 permitting
  • Prior experience working directly with regulatory agencies including Washington Department of Ecology, Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, Department of Natural Resources, Army Corps of Engineers, etc.
  • Experience preparing environmental documentation and permit applications such as JARPA and SEPA
  • Experience with biological opinions
  • Strong problem-solving skills – with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex permitting obstacles
  • Desire to collaborate with a winning team – let’s work together to do cool things and make work fun

You might have:

  • GIS or ArcGIS experience, Familiarity with CAD software
  • General understanding of marine construction equipment such as tug boats, barges, pile driving, cranes, bubble and sediment curtains, BMPs for pile driving work as well as CERCLA projects and wood preservative treatments (creosote, chemonite).

Senior Environmental Permitting Specialist / Environmental Planner – Benefits

Your compensation will be $125,000 annual salary plus a 15% bonus opportunity.
