Job description

Position Summary... What you'll do...Position Summary: Walmart is seeking a visionary and execution-focused Group Director, End-to-End AI to lead the transformation of how AI solutions are discovered, built, governed, deployed, and scaled across the enterprise. This leader will own the enterprise AI delivery experience, creating a seamless operating model that enables builders—from software engineers to citizen developers—to move from idea to production with speed, safety, and confidence. The role sits at the intersection of product, engineering, AI platforms, governance, developer experience, and enterprise transformation. The successful candidate will help define the future of AI development at Walmart by eliminating friction across the AI lifecycle, establishing common standards, improving automation, and ensuring governance is embedded into the platforms and workflows where builders operate. This leader will drive enterprise-wide adoption of AI while balancing innovation velocity, operational excellence, and responsible AI practices. What You'll Do Define Walmart's End-to-End AI Strategy
  • Establish the vision, roadmap, and operating model for the enterprise AI lifecycle.
  • Create a unified experience spanning:
    • AI discovery
    • Development
    • Evaluation
    • Governance
    • Deployment
    • Runtime management
    • Continuous improvement
  • Partner with senior leaders to align AI priorities with enterprise strategy and business outcomes.
Accelerate AI Adoption at Enterprise Scale
  • Drive programs that increase the speed and quality of AI solution delivery.
  • Identify and remove process bottlenecks preventing teams from moving AI solutions into production.
  • Design scalable onboarding, deployment, and governance mechanisms that reduce weeks of effort to days—or eventually hours.
Build an AI-Native Delivery Ecosystem
  • Partner across AI platforms, engineering, product, security, and governance teams.
  • Establish standards and best practices for AI development, agentic systems, model lifecycle management, and AI operations.
  • Drive adoption of AI-native development patterns and agent-assisted delivery models throughout Global Tech.
Operationalize Responsible AI
  • Ensure governance, security, privacy, and compliance capabilities are embedded directly into AI development workflows.
  • Champion "governance by design" and automation-first approaches.
  • Drive implementation of risk-tiered controls, automated reviews, policy enforcement, observability, and runtime safeguards.
Establish Enterprise AI Visibility and Measurement
  • Create executive dashboards and metrics demonstrating AI adoption, business value, builder productivity, deployment velocity, and operational health.
  • Provide leadership with actionable insights that influence strategic investment decisions.
  • Define success measures focused on outcomes rather than activity.
Lead Large-Scale Transformation
  • Build and lead cross-functional teams responsible for enterprise AI enablement.
  • Influence without authority across product, engineering, infrastructure, governance, compliance, and business organizations.
  • Drive organizational change as Walmart evolves toward AI-native ways of working.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Experience leading large-scale, enterprise platform or transformation initiatives.
  • Proven success delivering products and platforms used by thousands of internal or external users.
  • Experience driving software engineering, product management, or platform strategy organizations.
  • Strong understanding of modern AI/ML technologies, generative AI, agent frameworks, and software development practices.
  • Experience managing senior leaders and distributed teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience building AI, ML, developer platforms, or enterprise productivity ecosystems.
  • Experience with AI governance, responsible AI, risk management, or regulatory frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of developer experience (DevEx), platform engineering, and software lifecycle management.
  • Experience leading enterprise transformation programs involving multiple business units.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence executive stakeholders and drive organizational alignment.
