Description:

We are seeking an experienced Sr. Electrical Engineering Manager to lead our electrical engineering and technicians while remaining actively engaged in technical project work. This role is ideal for a seasoned electrical professional who enjoys developing teams, solving complex engineering challenges, and serving as a trusted technical resource for clients and project teams.


The Sr. Electrical Manager will oversee electrical engineering team operations, mentor engineers and technical staff, support project execution, and provide technical leadership across commercial, industrial, and government-related projects. This position will help guide electrical design and analysis activities including power distribution, lighting, controls, low-voltage systems, electrical studies, and commissioning support.


This position is based in Lakewood or Grand Junction, CO with flexibility for hybrid work arrangements. Occasional travel to project sites, client locations, and other Citrine offices is required.

Requirements:
  • Lead and manage Citrine’s electrical engineering team, providing technical direction, mentorship, and support across varying experience levels.
  • Serve as the senior electrical technical lead for commercial, industrial, and government/federal projects.
  • Provide oversight and technical guidance for electrical design activities including:
    • Power distribution systems
    • Lighting systems
    • Controls and low-voltage systems
    • Electrical studies and analysis
    • Commissioning and troubleshooting support
  • Review electrical engineering deliverables for technical accuracy, quality, code compliance, and alignment with client requirements.
  • Provide technical support and guidance on complex project challenges and design decisions.
  • Support project teams through design development, construction administration, commissioning, and closeout activities.
  • Participate in client meetings, project kick-offs, design reviews, and technical discussions.
  • Coordinate with project managers, discipline leads, contractors, and clients to ensure electrical scope is clearly defined and successfully executed.
  • Support resource planning, workload balancing, and assignment prioritization across the electrical team..
  • Identify project risks, scope changes, technical challenges, and resource needs.
  • Establish and maintain electrical quality control processes, standards, and best practices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or related technical field preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive electrical engineering experience, with demonstrated experience leading projects, teams, or technical initiatives.
  • Experience managing, mentoring, or providing technical direction to electrical engineers, designers, or technicians.
  • Strong understanding of electrical systems design and analysis for commercial, industrial, and/or government facilities.
  • Experience with electrical power distribution systems, lighting, controls, and low-voltage systems.
  • Experience reviewing electrical drawings, specifications, calculations, and technical documentation.
  • Working knowledge of applicable codes and standards, including NEC, NFPA, IEEE, and other industry standards.
  • Experience supporting construction, commissioning, startup, troubleshooting, or field activities.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate with clients, project teams, and internal stakeholders.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities while supporting team performance and project deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred or ability to obtain licensure.
  • Experience leading electrical engineering teams within a consulting, design, or engineering services environment.
  • Experience supporting commercial, industrial, utility, government, or federal projects.
  • Experience with electrical studies, including arc flash, short-circuit, and coordination studies.
  • Familiarity with SKM Power*Tools, ETAP, or other electrical analysis software.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, or electrical design software.
  • Project management experience or PMP certification is a plus.
