Job Summary
The Senior AWS Data Engineer will support process automation initiatives with a strong focus on Databricks and AWS serverless data services. The role will design, develop, test, and implement applications and databases, with primary emphasis on AWS Lambda, Glue, Step Functions, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, and serverless architectures. The engineer will also lead backend optimization, data and API integrations, production support, security and resilience initiatives, and technical mentoring while collaborating with cross-functional teams in an Agile environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, develop, test, and implement applications and databases supporting process automation initiatives.
• Develop and maintain AWS Step Functions and Glue jobs, with a primary focus on AWS serverless functionality.
• Translate technical specifications into code for complex new development and enhancement projects.
• Write programs, develop code, test artifacts, and produce technical reports.
• Implement automated testing practices that support software development and delivery.
• Lead backend system optimization efforts to improve performance, scalability, and responsiveness.
• Integrate multiple data sources, APIs, and services to streamline data flows and improve system efficiency.
• Develop and support backend interfaces and integrations that enable seamless user experiences.
• Maintain detailed backend documentation covering architecture, logic, and technical processes.
• Implement best practices for security, data protection, and backend resilience.
• Promote enterprise-grade development and architecture standards.
• Elevate code through development, test, and production environments according to established schedules.
• Provide production support and resolve elevated technical issues.
• Submit change control requests and maintain required technical documentation.
• Participate in design, code, and test inspections throughout the software development lifecycle.
• Perform systems analysis and communicate technical considerations to internal clients and technical teams.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate system issues at the appropriate technical level for each audience.
• Ensure deliverables comply with Information Technology and Information Security policies and procedures.
• Train and mentor less-experienced staff.
• Participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
• Strong hands-on experience with Databricks and AWS cloud services.
• Experience with AWS Lambda, Step Functions, Glue, S3, IAM, CloudFormation, and serverless architectures.
• Strong TypeScript and Python development experience.
• Experience with SQL development and database design.
• Experience developing APIs, system integrations, and backend architectures.
• Basic Angular and frontend development experience.
• Experience with ETL, data pipelines, and cloud-native data processing solutions.
• Experience with source control and CI/CD practices using GitHub.
• Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and production support skills.
• Experience working in Agile environments using Jira and Confluence.
• Strong understanding of software development methodologies and development architecture standards.
• Ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and internal clients.
Preferred Qualifications
• Oracle FCCS experience.
• Experience with workflow automation and process improvement methodologies.
• Experience with enterprise-scale backend optimization and data integration.
Certifications
