Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Platform Engineer to support and maintain mission-critical applications that power cruise operations, logistics, medical systems, asset management, incident management, and food & beverage services across Disney Cruise Line. This role serves as the primary technical escalation point for complex application and platform issues, working closely with vendors, infrastructure teams, database administrators, networking teams, SREs, and business stakeholders to ensure platform stability, availability, and performance. The ideal candidate is a strong troubleshooter with experience supporting enterprise applications in Windows Server environments. This individual will excel at diagnosing complex issues across multiple systems, utilizing SQL queries, logs, and system analysis to identify root causes and drive resolution. This is a highly collaborative role requiring technical depth, operational ownership, and the ability to work effectively in environments where source code access may be limited.
Day-to-Day Responsibilities
  • Provide operational support for critical business applications supporting cruise operations, logistics, medical, asset management, and corporate functions.
  • Serve as the primary technical escalation point for complex application, platform, and integration issues.
  • Troubleshoot incidents using log analysis, database queries, application behavior, and system diagnostics to identify root causes and restore service.
  • Coordinate resolution efforts across infrastructure, networking, database, security, SRE, and vendor teams.
  • Support vendor-based software platforms by managing support tickets, facilitating issue investigations, and ensuring timely remediation.
  • Monitor application health, availability, and performance to proactively identify risks and prevent service disruptions.
  • Write and execute SQL queries against Microsoft SQL Server and Oracle databases to support troubleshooting, data validation, and operational analysis.
  • Partner with Windows Server teams to support application hosting environments and infrastructure-related issues.
  • Assist with deployment planning, software upgrades, patching activities, and platform release validation.
  • Support testing efforts for infrastructure changes, application enhancements, and vendor-provided software releases.
  • Participate in incident, problem, and change management processes using established ITSM practices and tools such as ServiceNow.
  • Collaborate with DevOps and Site Reliability Engineering teams to improve platform reliability, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluate and implement automation opportunities to reduce manual effort and improve service delivery.
  • Support cloud-hosted environments and integration points across hybrid infrastructures.
  • Maintain system documentation, support procedures, knowledge articles, and operational runbooks.
  • Ensure compliance with security, governance, and operational standards.
  • Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation to support critical production systems.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in Platform Engineering, Application Support, Production Support, Operations Engineering, Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), or a related technical role.
  • Advanced troubleshooting experience with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve complex application and platform issues.
  • Strong experience supporting enterprise applications in Windows Server environments.
  • Hands-on experience working with Microsoft SQL Server and/or Oracle databases.
  • Ability to write and execute SQL queries for troubleshooting, analysis, and data validation.
  • Understanding of networking fundamentals including connectivity troubleshooting, firewalls, routing concepts, and application data flows.
  • Experience supporting vendor-hosted or vendor-managed enterprise applications.
  • Strong understanding of incident, problem, and change management processes.
  • Experience analyzing logs, system behavior, integrations, and application performance issues.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to coordinate technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across infrastructure, database, networking, security, and vendor teams.
