Senior Data Engineer โ€“ FocusPoint Talent Solutions (Clientโ€‘Facing Role)

FocusPoint is partnering with a growing technologyโ€‘driven organization to identify a Data Engineer who can build, optimize, and maintain modern data pipelines supporting realโ€‘time, highโ€‘volume analytics. This is a handsโ€‘on technical role for someone who thrives in fastโ€‘moving environments, collaborates well with stakeholders, and can turn complex data challenges into productionโ€‘ready solutions.

Role Overview

The Data Engineer will design and maintain scalable data pipelines across Azure and Databricks, integrate data from a wide range of internal and external sources, and ensure that all datasets are timeโ€‘synchronized, reliable, and optimized for downstream consumption. This position requires strong engineering fundamentals, excellent listening skills, and the ability to deliver highโ€‘quality data products quickly within a structured SDLC.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build, optimize, and maintain Azureโ€‘based data pipelines and cloud architectures.
  • Develop and manage Databricks workflows, notebooks, and cluster configurations.
  • Integrate data from dozens of disparate sources, including APIs, streaming feeds, and batch systems.
  • Ensure time synchronization and alignment across realโ€‘time and nearโ€‘realโ€‘time datasets.
  • Design and optimize table structures, storage formats, and query performance for analytical workloads.
  • Implement robust ETL/ELT processes that support both operational and analytical use cases.
  • Work with APIs to ingest, transform, and validate highโ€‘velocity data streams.
  • Collaborate closely with product, engineering, and business teamsโ€”listening actively to requirements and translating them into technical solutions.
  • Deliver data products quickly while maintaining quality, reliability, and adherence to SDLC best practices.
  • Monitor pipeline performance, troubleshoot issues, and continuously improve system efficiency and scalability.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Handsโ€‘on experience with Azure data services (e.g., Data Factory, Databricks, ADLS, Azure SQL).
  • Strong proficiency in Databricks for data engineering, transformation, and optimization.
  • Proven ability to design and optimize table structures, storage layers, and query performance.
  • Experience pulling and integrating data from multiple heterogeneous sources, including APIs.
  • Background working with realโ€‘time or streaming data and ensuring accurate time alignment.
  • Solid understanding of ETL/ELT pipelines, data modeling, and workflow orchestration.
  • Familiarity with SDLC, version control, and production deployment practices.
  • Strong communication and listening skills, with the ability to translate business needs into technical solutions.
  • Ability to deliver highโ€‘quality work quickly in a dynamic environment.
