BT-409 - Data Engineer
Location: Reston, VA

Bespoke Technologies is seeking a highly experienced and motivated Senior Data Engineer to join our Consulting Services organization on an exciting new contract. The Senior Data Engineer will be part of a team of Application, Cloud, and Security engineers delivering a cloud-native, centralized data platform that provides end-to-end budget traceability. This role will design, implement, and own the Oracle data architecture, database schemas, tables, and data standards that enable reliable, secure, and program-ready data products.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in data engineering, Oracle database development, data architecture, or database management.
  • Strong expertise in Oracle Database technologies
  • Demonstrated experience designing, implementing, and owning logical and physical data models, database schemas, tables, views, keys, constraints, and reference data for enterprise Oracle databases.
  • Proven experience with PL/SQL, SQL, stored procedures, packages, Oracle partitioning, indexing, query optimization, and performance tuning.
  • Deep understanding of relational data modeling, normalization, dimensional modeling, data warehousing concepts
  • Experience defining and enforcing data standards, naming conventions, data quality controls, business rules, retention requirements, and data lifecycle management.
  • Strong knowledge or experience of ETL pipeline design, data transformation, reconciliation, and validation for large-scale data systems.
  • Experience designing secure and scalable Oracle database solutions, including role-based access controls, encryption, auditing, backup and recovery considerations, and sensitive-data handling.
  • Proficiency in shell scripting, Python, or comparable automation tools for database administration, deployment, monitoring, and operational support.
  • Experience with Oracle GoldenGate or similar change data capture (CDC), replication, or data integration technologies.
  • Familiarity with data governance, metadata management, master/reference data, data lineage, and cataloging practices.
  • Ability to work with application developers, cloud engineers, security engineers, and business analysts to translate mission needs into durable data solutions.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills for documenting data architecture, schemas, standards, and implementation decisions.
  • Experience working in an Agile framework.

Desired Skills
  • Experience integrating Oracle databases with cloud-native services, big data platforms, or data lakes.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Autonomous Database and Oracle Analytics
  • Experience with Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), including database, storage, networking, and data integration services.
  • Experience implementing database schema migrations and database change management through DevOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Knowledge of federal data security, privacy, and compliance requirements relevant to mission systems.
  • Oracle certifications, such as Oracle Certified Professional, Oracle Database Administration, or Oracle Data Integration certification.

Required Credentials and Experience:
  • 8+ years of experience relevant to this position.
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, computer science, business, or related discipline. Master's degree preferred.
