Job description

Job Summary:
Columbia University Irving Medical Center is a leading research institution, and they are seeking a Senior Data Manager to support multiple research projects at the School of Nursing. The role involves maintaining data integrity, managing databases, training staff, and collaborating with research teams to ensure high-quality data for analysis.
Responsibilities:
โ€ข Maintaining database security, merging, storage, management and cleaning;
โ€ข Ensuring that high quality data and the Integrity of the data are protected;
โ€ข Upgrading of database systems to meet the needs of the research team;
โ€ข Training of students and staff in data management;
โ€ข Organizing cleaning and preparing data after study trial closet-out for analysis by students and statisticians
โ€ข Reporting positive cases from a STI study to local and State health departments
โ€ข Developing and designing RedCap databases and Qualtrics surveys for projects- Supporting students and trainees in the cleaning and analysis of data for dissemination activities
โ€ข Processing data and preparing reports on various projects, including presenting data in charts, graphs, and tables;
โ€ข Collaborating with and facilitating communication with research team members ranging from senior scientists to students;
โ€ข Working closely with the biostatisticians;
โ€ข Assisting with dissemination including the development of original abstracts and manuscripts;
โ€ข Managing the secure acquisition and transfer of research-related data by developing processes for the efficient, secure transfer of encrypted data and de-identifying data that will be transferred to federal agencies
โ€ข Ensuring compliance with all data security requirements by working with the CUSON administrative staff to create processes for monitoring compliance with the Data Use Agreements;
โ€ข Working with research staff to create a center-wide process for cleaning raw data and preparing it for research use (including performing various data quality and plausibility checks);
โ€ข Working with CUSON's IT to ensure that data transfer and data storage can be carried out efficiently;
โ€ข Collaborate with research staff and/or PIs to ensure that all research data are of the highest quality;
โ€ข Collaborate with research team to produce searchable data documents to guide research acquisition; and
โ€ข Performing other responsibilities and projects as needed and assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
โ€ข Requires a bachelorโ€™s degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four (4) years of related experience.
โ€ข Related experience in technology, information management, relational database management, data mining or statistics, including programming, managing and maintaining data systems.
โ€ข Strong mathematical skills and good technical knowledge, including strong knowledge in computers
โ€ข Effective in communication skills at multiple levels, and well-developed writing and presentation skills
โ€ข Expertise in a variety of data management software (e.g., Excel, Access, REDCap, SQL, Python, R, STATA & SAS) and data management processes
โ€ข Experience in working with โ€˜big dataโ€™ (i.e., extremely large data sets that may be analyzed computationally to reveal patterns, trends, and associations, especially relating to human behavior and interactions)
Preferred:
โ€ข Master or Ph.D degree is preferred.
โ€ข Healthcare system data experience a plus
