But the truly inspiring firms - the game-changers, the industry leaders and the disruptors - have cultures that propel them to innovate and stand out. At Brown Advisory, we aim to be one of those inspired firms. Over the years, we have purposefully built and nurtured our client-first culture.

Brown Advisory is an independent investment management and strategic advisory firm committed to delivering a combination of first-class performance, strategic advice and the highest level of client service. The firm's clients-including individuals, families, family offices, endowments, foundations, charities, institutions, consultants, and financial intermediaries-are served by over 1,000 colleagues worldwide, all of whom are equity owners of the firm.

Position Summary
Brown Advisory is seeking a Senior Addepar Data Engineer / Analyst to help advance the firm's Wealth and Asset Management data capabilities. This role is responsible for supporting and scaling the Addepar data ecosystem, with a focus on data engineering, platform analytics, integration support, data quality, operational automation, and investment data enablement.

The role will work at the intersection of technology, investment operations, portfolio management, client reporting, and enterprise data. The successful candidate will help ensure that Addepar data is accurate, reliable, timely, well-governed, and available for downstream reporting, analytics, advisory workflows, and business decision-making.

This is a high-impact opportunity for a hands-on Addepar professional who understands investment data, can solve complex data problems, and wants to help shape a modern asset management technology environment. The role will support integrations between Addepar, Snowflake, Canoe, reporting platforms, portfolio systems, client platforms, and other enterprise applications.

The primary duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Serve as a senior technical and analytical resource for Brown Advisory's Addepar data ecosystem.
  • Support, enhance, and scale Addepar workflows across portfolio management, client reporting, investment operations, performance analytics, and advisory processes.
  • Analyze, troubleshoot, and resolve complex data issues involving accounts, entities, ownership structures, portfolios, holdings, transactions, securities, classifications, attributes, benchmarks, performance, and reporting outputs.
  • Build, maintain, and improve data pipelines between Addepar and enterprise platforms, including Snowflake, reporting tools, client platforms, portfolio systems, accounting systems, Canoe, and other vendor applications.
  • Use Addepar APIs, extracts, imports, and platform tools to enable data integration, automation, enrichment, validation, and downstream consumption.
  • Develop SQL queries, reconciliation logic, exception reports, data profiling routines, and automated data quality controls.
  • Partner with business and technology stakeholders to translate portfolio management, client reporting, operations, and analytics needs into data requirements, technical specifications, and scalable delivery solutions.
  • Support ingestion, transformation, normalization, and validation of portfolio, client, account, security, transaction, performance, benchmark, alternative investment, and reference data.
  • Contribute to Snowflake-centered data architecture by supporting secure data ingestion, modeling, quality checks, consumption-layer design, and integration with analytics and reporting platforms.
  • Collaborate with investment operations and reporting teams to validate performance, exposure, allocation, classification, and client reporting data.
  • Support production data operations, including data-feed monitoring, exception management, issue triage, root-cause analysis, release validation, vendor escalation, and post-incident remediation. Identify opportunities to automate manual workflows, reduce recurring data exceptions, improve data quality, and strengthen operational controls.
  • Maintain clear documentation for data flows, mappings, business rules, reconciliation procedures, platform processes, and production support runbooks.
  • Participate in platform enhancements, regression testing, user acceptance testing, release planning, and change-management activities.
  • Ensure Addepar-related data processes align with Brown Advisory's standards for security, privacy, auditability, operational resilience, and financial services regulatory expectations.
  • Partner with architects, engineers, platform owners, business analysts, vendors, and data governance stakeholders to continuously improve the reliability, scalability, and usability of the Addepar data environment.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Information Technology, Computer Science, Finance, Accounting, Business Analytics, Data Analytics, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of hands-on experience with the Addepar platform in a wealth management, asset management, family office, investment advisory, or financial services environment.
  • 5+ years of experience in data engineering, data analysis, investment operations technology, financial systems support, platform analytics, or enterprise data operations.
  • Strong understanding of the Addepar data model, including accounts, entities, ownership structures, portfolios, holdings, transactions, securities, classifications, attributes, benchmarks, performance, and reporting views.
  • Experience supporting Addepar data imports, exports, data feeds, integrations, reconciliation processes, and platform configuration.
  • Intermediate to advanced SQL skills, including joins, aggregations, data profiling, exception identification, reconciliation, and large-dataset analysis.
  • Experience diagnosing and resolving data quality issues across portfolio, account, transaction, position, security master, performance, and reporting datasets.
  • Strong understanding of wealth or asset management workflows, including portfolio management, investment operations, client reporting, performance reporting, alternative investments, and financial reporting.
  • Experience translating business requirements into data requirements, technical specifications, data mappings, validation rules, and operating procedures.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, documentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities, production deadlines, and high expectations for accuracy, reliability, and responsiveness.
  • Ability to work in Brown Advisory's Baltimore office three days per week.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience integrating Addepar with Snowflake, Databricks, enterprise data warehouses, BI/reporting tools, CRM platforms, client portals, portfolio accounting systems, or investment operations platforms.
  • Experience using Addepar APIs or developer tools to support automated extracts, data enrichment, platform integrations, workflow automation, or downstream reporting processes.
  • Experience with Canoe or similar alternative investment document automation, and data extraction.
  • Experience with Snowflake, including data ingestion, transformation, modeling, access controls, data sharing, and consumption-layer design.
  • Experience with Python, dbt, ETL/ELT tools, orchestration platforms, APIs, file-based integrations, and automation scripts.
  • Knowledge of portfolio accounting, investment book of record concepts, performance measurement, client reporting, asset classification, account hierarchy, and investment data governance.
  • Experience developing dashboards, exception reports, reconciliation tools, operational metrics, or analytics datasets.
  • Familiarity with financial services controls, including audit, data lineage, access controls, SOX, AML/KYC, SEC/FINRA, and operational risk requirements.
  • Experience with Agile delivery, SDLC processes, production support, incident management, root-cause analysis, release validation, and change-management procedures.
  • Ability to work across business, data, technology, investment operations, reporting, compliance, and vendor teams to deliver practical, scalable data solutions.

Technical Competencies:

  • Addepar data model, platform configuration, reporting views, data imports, exports, integrations, and APIs
  • Portfolio, account, entity, ownership, holding, transaction, security master, classification, benchmark, performance, and reporting data
  • SQL, data profiling, data reconciliation, data validation, and exception management
  • Snowflake and modern enterprise data platform concepts
  • API-based integrations, file-based integrations, ETL/ELT workflows, and data pipeline support
  • Wealth and asset management workflows
  • Portfolio analytics, client reporting, performance reporting, investment operations, and financial reporting
  • Alternative investment data workflows, including Canoe or comparable platforms
  • Data governance, data quality, lineage, access controls, auditability, and operational resilience
  • Production support, incident triage, root-cause analysis, vendor escalation, release validation, and runbook documentation
  • Agile delivery, requirements analysis, user acceptance testing, change management, and technical documentation
  • Communication with investment, operations, reporting, compliance, data, technology, and vendor stakeholders
