The Sr. Rotating Controller serves as a senior finance leader responsible for providing interim and strategic financial leadership across multiple operating units, practices, or regions during periods of transition, complexity, or elevated need.

This role partners with executive leadership, physicians, and practice administrators to set financial direction, assess financial performance, identify risks and opportunities, and drive operational and financial improvements. The Sr. Rotating Controller operates with a broad scope and high degree of autonomy and is expected to integrate financial activities across practices while influencing outcomes at the regional and enterprise level.

In addition to interim coverage, this role leads strategic initiatives, including finance transformation efforts, process standardization, onboarding and transition support for permanent controllers, and ad hoc projects spanning Accounting, FP&A, M&A, and Financial Operations.

Assignments are temporary in nature but may span multiple practices simultaneously and are focused on stabilization, optimization, and transition to permanent leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provides seniorlevel interim financial leadership for multiple practices or complex assignments, ensuring continuity, stability, and strategic oversight during controller vacancies, transitions, or elevated operational need.

  • Partners with physicians, executive directors, and senior leadership to assess financial performance, communicate results, and advise on financial strategy, risks, and opportunities.

  • Establishes and drives financial goals and objectives for assigned operating units; evaluates performance against targets and leads corrective action planning as needed.

  • Oversee and integrate financial activities across assigned practices, including general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, budgeting, forecasting, and cash flow management.

  • Leads the development, review, and interpretation of management reporting, financial analyses, and variance explanations for senior leadership and physician audiences.

  • Ensures compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP), internal control standards, company policies, Management Services Agreements, and the US Oncology Compliance Program, including the Code of Ethics and Business Standards.

  • Establishes, enhances, and documents internal control frameworks and financial policies to strengthen governance, consistency, and sustainability across practices.

  • Reviews contracts, transactions, and business arrangements for financial impact and risk exposure; partners with Legal, Accounting, and M&A as appropriate.

  • Provides oversight and guidance to interim accounting staff and practice finance teams during assignments, influences outcomes without direct people management authority.

  • Leads or supports strategic and transformational initiatives, including process standardization, financial best practices, onboarding playbooks, and technology or AIenabled improvements.

  • Supports onboarding, mentoring, and transition of permanent controller leadership, ensuring a smooth handoff and sustained financial performance.

  • Performs ad hoc projects across Financial Operations, FP&A, Accounting, and M&A, often requiring advanced judgment, crossfunctional coordination, and executive communication.

  • Digital mindset with a demonstrated ability to leverage technology, and automation to improve financial processes, insights, and decision-making.

Minimum Education and Typical Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required

  • Minimum of 12+ years of progressive experience in accounting, finance, controllership, FP&A, or related fields

  • Demonstrated experience operating in complex, multiunit or multipractice environments
