Job Description

We are currently seeking a qualified Senior Control Systems (I&C) Engineer to join our Control Systems Engineering team based in Calgary, AB. The successful candidate will provide technical leadership on complex industrial projects and support multidisciplinary engineering teams through all phases of project execution. This role is responsible for developing and reviewing complex control systems engineering deliverables, participating in key technical reviews, and providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and designers. The successful candidate may also be assigned as a Lead Engineer on project assignments.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation, review, and checking of complex control systems engineering deliverables.
  • Participate in key technical reviews including P&ID reviews, HAZOP studies, LOPA reviews, and Alarm Rationalization workshops.
  • Provide technical leadership, direction, and mentorship to engineers, designers, technicians, and project team members.
  • Prepare and support conceptual studies, engineering reports, technical specifications, and project proposals.
  • Coordinate technical activities and interfaces with multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, construction, supplier, and client teams.
  • Review technical bid evaluations and provide engineering recommendations.
  • Develop, maintain, and improve engineering standards, specifications, and design guides.
  • Monitor discipline progress, technical quality, schedules, and deliverables to support successful project execution.
  • Communicate complex technical issues and recommend practical solutions to project and engineering leadership.
  • Support the development of junior engineers through coaching, mentorship, and knowledge sharing.
  • Maintain accountability for technical quality, schedule performance, and discipline deliverables.
  • Foster a collaborative, safety-focused, and high-performing engineering environment.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering.
  • Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) designation in good standing.
  • 15-20+ years of progressive Instrumentation & Control Systems engineering experience within industrial, mining, energy, infrastructure, nuclear, or EPC/EPCM project environments.
  • Strong knowledge of control systems engineering practices and applicable industry codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • Experience developing and reviewing complex control systems engineering deliverables.
  • Experience participating in technical reviews including HAZOP, LOPA, and Alarm Rationalization studies.
  • Proven ability to coordinate technical activities across multidisciplinary engineering, procurement, and construction teams.
  • Demonstrated experience providing technical leadership and mentoring junior engineers and designers.
  • Experience leading small to medium-sized engineering projects is considered an asset.
  • Strong communication, problem-solving, and interpersonal skills.
