Position: Construction Inspector - DOT Michigan Location: Saginaw, MI

Location: Regional Michigan Offices
Employment Type: Full-Time
For over 70 years Fishbeck has been building. As a 100% employee-owned firm, every team member has a stake in what we build together-our work, our reputation, and our future. Now we need to add a Construction Inspector to help us keep building.
Working with our Civil Field team, you will inspect a variety of different projects for compliance with regulations, project plans, and client specifications.
What You'll Do
  • Prepare detailed Daily Work Reports (DWRs) documenting work status, pay item postings, materials, and jobsite conditions.
  • Complete calculations, sketches, and forms, including concrete placement reports, permits, removal item records, wage interviews, mobility reports, and drilled shaft inspection reports.
  • Verify construction compliance with contract requirements and communicate non-compliance issues to senior staff.
  • Assist with Requests for Information and serve as liaison between contractors and senior technicians/engineers.
  • Collaborate with project teams, including engineers, technicians, survey staff, contractors, and stakeholders.
  • Work closely with senior technicians and engineers to ensure proper execution of project designs.
What We're Looking For
  • Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology, Construction Management, Concrete Technology, or equivalent experience.
  • 2-5+ years of inspection experience on DOT or municipal projects preferred.
  • Knowledge of DOT documentation requirements and familiarity with AASHTOWare, Appia, or other digital inspection platforms is a plus.
  • Valid driver's license with good driving record; ability to travel and work flexible hours, including weekends.
  • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office; familiarity with Bluebeam or PlanGrid is a plus.
  • Experience with survey equipment including GPS or Arrow Systems is a plus.
