Job description

We are seeking a Senior Computer and Information Research Scientist / Senior Systems Engineer to provide technical leadership in the design, development, integration, modernization, and sustainment of complex enterprise and mission-critical systems. This position is ideal for an experienced systems engineering professional who thrives on solving highly complex technical challenges while influencing the strategic direction of large-scale programs.

The successful candidate will serve as a senior technical authority, collaborating with engineers, architects, program managers, government stakeholders, and executive leadership to develop innovative technical solutions that enable mission success. This role requires a blend of systems engineering expertise, technical leadership, strategic planning, and hands-on problem solving across the full systems engineering lifecycle.

Salary: $135,565 - $172,800+

What You'll Be Doing

  • Working on unusually complex technical problems and architecting highly innovative system‑level solutions.
  • Applying extensive systems engineering experience to analyze and assess system requirements, processes, interfaces, and methodologies to ensure total system integration and mission performance.
  • Contributing to—and potentially leading—small engineering teams in planning, designing, and implementing large‑scale technical programs while interfacing with senior management and technical leadership.
  • Supporting long‑range strategic systems planning under consultative direction.
  • Applying advanced engineering principles, theories, and concepts to determine and pursue courses of action needed to achieve desired technical outcomes.
  • Performing additional responsibilities as required in support of enterprise engineering, modernization, and integration efforts.

Requirements

  • Active US Security Clearance with Polygraph
  • Advanced knowledge in the systems engineering discipline; recognized as a subject matter expert.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with an ability to clearly present technical concepts.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in team environments and perform in a lead engineering capacity.
  • Ability to plan, assign, and supervise the work of other engineers.
  • Knowledge of system architecture design, requirements analysis, modeling tools, and capability development.
  • Strong attention to detail with a focus on system quality and mission success.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related technical/scientific discipline.
  • Advanced degree may be preferred.
  • 8+ years of related professional systems engineering experience.
