Job Summary

Northrop Grumman Defense Systems (NGDS) is looking for Computer System Architects based in Huntsville, Alabama to work on the IBCS Poland Integrated Battle Command System (IBCS), a network‑enabled command‑and‑control system that unifies air and missile defense sensors and shooters.

Position Levels
  • Computer System Architect – Level 2: 2 years with a Bachelor of Science; 0 years with a Master’s or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
  • Principal Computer Systems Architect – Level 3: 5 years with a Bachelor of Science; 3 years with a Master’s; 1 year with a Ph.D. or 4 additional years in lieu of a degree.
Basic Qualifications
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) system administration experience.
  • Strong software, system, and network troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to script or work at the command line level within RHEL and Windows‑based systems (Bash, PowerCLI, PowerShell, or Python).
  • Basic understanding of all phases of software development, and practical experience in an Agile/DevOps environment.
  • Basic understanding of networking, including subnets, routing, and VLANs.
  • Must have an active Secret Clearance.
  • Current DoD 8570 IAT LevelII Certification (e.g., Security+).
Preferred Qualifications
  • Understanding of routing/switching and experience debugging network‑oriented applications.
  • Experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
  • Administration experience with VMware vSphere7.x or higher.
  • Experience integrating COTS, GOTS, and custom software in a security‑constrained environment.
  • Working knowledge of Linux systems in a Windows Domain environment.
  • Experience with Air & Missile Defense Command and Control programs such as IBCS, PATRIOT, SENTINEL, C2BMC, THAAD, or any sensor/weapon system; Link16 experience.
  • Experience with implementing STIGs and tracking non‑compliance on Plan of Action & Milestones (POA&M).
  • Previous experience with Atlassian Tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, Bamboo, Fisheye, Crucible, etc.).
  • Ability to generate procedures that test functionality.
  • Additional Operating System Environment Certification (e.g., MCSA, MCSE, Linux+, RHCSA, Net+, CCNA, VMware Certified).
Compensation & Benefits
  • Primary Level Salary Range: $87,600.00 – $131,400.00.
  • Secondary Level Salary Range: $108,800.00 – $163,200.00.
  • Eligible for overtime, shift differential, and discretionary bonus.
  • Annual bonuses reward individual contributions and mandate shared company performance.
  • Optional long‑term incentives for senior positions.
  • Benefits include health, life, and disability insurance, a savings plan, company‑paid holidays, and paid time off (vacation and/or personal business).
