Job description

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Senior CAD Technician to join our Land and Construction teams. In this role, you will be responsible for creating accurate technical drawings and plans using CAD software to support survey and construction projects for large-scale construction, land development, plating, and more. Working closely with Project Managers and field personnel, you will translate client requirements and survey data into precise, high-quality deliverables while ensuring accuracy and compliance with project standards. The ideal candidate will possess advanced AutoCAD proficiency, strong computer skills, and the ability to manage multiple projects in a fast-paced environment. Success in this role requires exceptional attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively to complete projects efficiently. This position reports directly to the Construction Production Manager and plays a key role in supporting the successful execution of survey and construction projects.

Roles responsibilities

  • Downloads and processes field data in AutoCAD Civil 3D.
  • Interprets and plots records, deeds, and plats for all types of property surveys.
  • Records and documents project requirements.
  • Draft Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Hydrographic Surveys, and other related surveys.
  • Edit and finalize technical drawings.
  • Make required modifications and updates to drawings.
  • Assist in establishing CAD standards and utilize these standards to minimize the hours required to complete a task.
  • Be able to operate the plotter, printer, scanner, and other necessary devices.
  • Receive, review, and return internal documents as requested on a timely basis, obtaining required authorizations to record billable hours and/or expenses for work performed.
  • Analyze sketches, notes, and other input material to determine the best approach.
  • Attend meetings outside of the office.
  • Analyze sketches, drawings, notes, and/or verbal information supplied by the engineer, surveyor, technician, or designer to determine the most appropriate views, detail drawings, and supplementary information needed to complete assignments.
  • Create final pint clouds/as-builts plans for design and as-built purposes.
  • Travel may be required within the Continental US.
  • Other duties as assigned by the VP of Build and Construction.
  • Review, edit, and submit jobs daily.
  • Set up all legal descriptions for a specific job.
  • Work with the Project Managers daily.
  • Create drawings of proposed designs using CAD Civil 3D.
  • Communicate with the field crew when needed to address issues.
  • Communicate with the supervisor of the property when needed.
  • Performs designs of portions on non-routine projects or entire projects with limited supervision
  • Train other staff members on CAD Standards, as appropriate.
  • Work on boundary, topographic, and control surveys and construction stakeout for various development projects.

​​Qualifications and Education Requirements​

  • High school education required.
  • Associate degree in Drafting & Design (preferred).
  • CST Certification Preferred.
  • Computer skills in Microsoft (Word, Excel, Outlook).
  • Minimum one year of Land survey experience.
  • Exposure to or entry-level proficiency in specialty areas such as: CAD, Cadastral, Platting, or other areas.
  • Experience with AutoCAD 2007 or greater.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

The familiar work environment for this position is an indoor business office environment. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will frequently sit, talk, or hear, and will occasionally stoop, kneel, and reach with hands and arms.

Availability/Schedule

Availability and schedule required for this role are Monday-Friday, 6:30 am -3:30 pm.

This role may require local travel. All employees are expected to be familiar with and adhere to the Company’s Vehicle Safety Policies. Any employee who operates a company vehicle is required to always fully comply with all aspects of this policy.
